Just wondering if you think you owe it to your OOT guests to serve a full meal if they have to drive a bit of a distance or fly to attend an event: baby shower, baptism, birthday party.

The majority of our closest fam and friends will have to travel to attend baby events and while we will likely hang out with them during their visit and treat them I wonder if the actual event should be a full meal too. When planning my local-to-me wedding I was constantly told a cocktail reception would be rude because so many guests were cominh from OOT and "you have to feed them!" Having a full, traditional meal was part of the reason I didn't end up having a larger weddding.
