I'd lump it all together, but it's gear...car seats (we have 4), strollers (we have 2), travel crib, high chair, etc.

I think as you say, Mrs. Bee, it is pretty expensive to buy clothes since we have to buy new things for each season. There is a big investment in gear in the beginning but then you don't have to buy very much once your child is older. I feel like I barely spend anything on diapers. She just eats what we eat so there is not a lot of extra cost there.

Formula. We use cloth diapers and wipes so that isn't an issue anymore, and we don't have to pay for child care. I'm looking forward for when LO turns one soon so we can be done with formula

Childcare is by far the most expensive. But next in line would probably be diapers? Wait, organic fruits/vegetables definitely add up too.

Hospital bills...baby had meningitis at 4 mons, had to be hospitalized for over 1 week.

I have found 90% of his clothes at garage sales, craigslist, second-hand stores and hand-me-downs. We've probably only spent about $50 on NEW clothes. And we are set for his whole first year, and even have a good amount up to 24 mos. So for now, clothes isn't a big expense.

But I would say gear for now - rocking chair, crib, mattress, mattress topper, cosleeper, carseat etc. We bought all the above out of pocket.

We did pay quite a bit for his diaper stash ($700+) because the first system we bought didn't work. I haven't been able to resell them yet.

I'm sure it will eventually be food! I have a boy and we buy mainly organic!!

It will probably be travel to see my parents. They are too far away!
