Our kitchen was so ugly, I had to figure out some way to update it on a tight budget. So here it is! We remodeled our kitchen for about $300. We painted the cabinets and added trim/wallpaper, new hardware, painted the counters and put on a backsplash. I'm really happy with how it all turned out 
ETA: if anyone has any ideas of what to put on those shelves let me know!

@T.H.O.U.: we cut them down so we could add new hinges, and plus they would hit together when closing them. Then we added beadboard wallpaper and trim to them all, painted them and that's it!

You did an amazing job! I love the transformation. Was it hard to paint the cabinets? Ours are older and I'm tempted to paint them white but I've heard it's a long process and a headache. They're currently brown wood so maybe that makes it harder?

@serenity207: it wasn't hard at all, it took a few days for sure but a lot of it was waiting for coats to dry...throw kids in the mix and everything takes longer.

Great job! We painted our cabinets too after getting ridiculously expensive quotes to redo them. Cost less than $100 and 3 days of our time for a completely new looking kitchen. So satisfying!

What did you use on the counters?
I have a friend with rounded shelves like that and she has small framed pictures, very small colored glass vases, and some trinkets on them!

What did you use to paint the countertops? I know my mom is looking to do something like this in her kitchen and bathrooms. They have white laminate countertops right now.
