It's my brother and laws 40th birthday this year and my sister is organizing a surprise party at a chalet about 4 hours away 1 week before I'm due. (why 4 hours away, because it's closer to his hometown where all his friends are)
I don't really understand her date choice seeing she knows we would like to be there but there's a big chance we won't. I'm not sure I would take the risk 1 week before. Would you?

No way. I'd be way too paranoid I'd go into labor.... and wouldn't want to be in labor for a 4 hour car ride home.

my c-sec is 3 weeks away and there's NO way i'd go. i feel so disgusting as it is and i can't walk very well or very far anymore. =(

I'm actually planning on going to a wedding about two hours away from home on the weekend of our due date... Is there any uncertainty at all about your date?
I say see how you feel closer to the date, and if you feel ok, go! My midwife has told me that if I'm travelling away from home in the last few weeks I need to take my midwifery notes with me and just be sensible about what I get up to!

I wouldn't go. There's a lot of uncertainty involved and it's just not worth the extra stress, IMO.

No way. I'm all about comfort and being in control. If you go into labor and you're 4 hours away, you don't have access to your hospital, do you want to labor in the car? Gah! Scary! I'd also think that car ride to and from would be miserable... 
I'm sorry they scheduled the party so close to your due date and so far away!

No, I wouldn't chance it... Especially because this is #2 for you if I'm not mistaken. My first labor was 20 hrs but my second was just 6 hours from start to finish.
It was basically like, I had lunch, made some calls, took a shower, got dressed, went to hospital, had a baby, then it was dinner time. My hair was still wet from my shower after I gave birth. LOL. It was fast.
I know everyone is different, but as you know, subsequent labors often go quicker than the first so I'd say being 4 hours away is too risky... However, you could also decide closer to the date and talk to your OB about it at that time, but as I mentioned, I do think it would be pretty risky.

I don't know. I'm still debating going to a wedding 9 days before my due date even though it's in Tennessee and I'm on the coast near DC.... It's all up to you.

Well for my first I was induced 1 week later but I heard seconds arrive sooner ( which I am hoping )
I told my sister the chances of me going were slim an then I read a message that my BIL sister is coming back from vacation that weekend so they might come for 1 of the 3 days. Isn't that odd? I know you shouldn't plan a party around people but I mean his sister/BIL and us. Maybe my sister sees it more like a friend thing.
I would feel better if I didn't go. I have a wedding the week prior (If I haven't given birth) and honestly that's enough partying for my big belly.

@blushink: I personally wouldn't risk it. I plan to stay w/in 30 mins of hospital for the last few wks before my due date.

Nope. I wouldn't go. I stayed close to home the last 3 weeks before I was due.
