Age 6 and up!

i got a manicure for christmas and i was lazy about taking off the paint and my nails were chipping like crazy. The one day i was nursing her and i realized a chip of my nail polish was in her eye! Never painting my nails again... oh the mommy guilt... it took like 3-4 times flushing with water to finally get it out.

I would think 2-3, when she can ask for it. And like Blackbird said when she is past eating everything, including her fingers.

It's not something that I'm interested in for myself so it's not something I put a lot of thought into. I would think as she gets older, for a treat, we may do them when she's 5 or 6? I can't say for sure, though b/c we're not there yet.

I'd do toes whenever I felt like it, lol. Not hands until she stops sticking them in her mouth, though.

I started painting L's toes a few months ago (after she turned 2). I am also big on painting my nails and was dying for this milestone. I'm still not ready to paint her fingers because I don't trust her not to pick at it/put her fingers in her mouth.

I don't wear nail polish ever, so I can't imagine this being a thing in our house! However if at a certain age she asked if we could purchase some to put some on, I can't imagine saying no.

She came home from daycare (14m or so) with it on, one of the older kids painted all the girls nails, and initially I was mortified, but later thought if she sat still for it, and they were all doing it.....really no harm, and it was pretty cute.

I'd do toes anytime now but I'd stay away from finger nails until she stops sucking on her hands.

I don't think I'd paint fingernails before 2.5-3, just because they always seem to have their hand in their mouths, but I know lots of people who do their little girl's toes when they're doing their own well before that. Heck, my son has had his big toes painted because he insisted while I was painting mine. He thinks he looks pretty awesome with it done.

She was 3.5 when she first asked me. I bought her some piggy paint. It is clear with glitter so not that noticeable anyway.

Not until school age and if she asks for it. I don't think it's good for nails to be covered in polish all the time and I'm pretty sure if I did it once she'd be wanting it all the time. Honestly, I'd prefer to wait until she could apply it and take care of it properly on her own.

paint her toes!! They mostly don't put those in their mouths as much as fingers would be

I voted never because this isn't really something we do in our house. But I'd let my best friend paint our kids nails around age 4 if that was something she wanted. My wife would hate it though. And It would only happen very infrequently. I'd probably take it off a day or two later.

I think this is a fair topic that varies from parent to parent. I'm not big into nail polish, but I wouldn't judge another parent for doing it. As long as the kid doesn't have their fingers in their mouth all the time- that worries me a little.

I think it would be a great reward to keep them from sucking thumbs or biting nails if it worked as a motivation for that particular kid. I also like the idea of using safer nail polishes!

I wont paint my daughters nails ever. She can do it herself when she is old enough to be able to remove it herself so maybe 8 or 9? and I will only let her use clear or glitter polish at first.
