Pampers diapers have become the bane of my existence

Pampers have Sesame Street characters printed on them like Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Big Bird, and Oscar. The LO has decided that she only likes Oscar but most of the diapers are Elmo and Cookie Monster since those are the most popular characters so I guess they include more of them in the box. Every diaper change has now become a war.

She's definitely becoming more picky and opinionated about every thing and it is not just diapers. But I really do not like Pampers right now. Giving toddlers the option to choose their favorite character on a diaper is just bad news.

@chopsuey119: omg genius idea!!!!!! i really should. but there is no guarantee that she'll always like oscar so i'll just get a whole bunch of different stickers. sigh. i'm tired.

@Rubies: actually it has always sucked because she has hated diaper changes from the day i brought her home from the hospital but this just brings it to a whole other level.

My DD LOVES Elmo (luckily he appears on every diaper but not always as the main character) however she doesn't ever want the diaper I've picked. I started letting her pick the diaper she wants from the pile and that has stopped most battles.

@purrpletulips: Glad i am not the only one dealing with this! LO only wants Oscar as the main character on the front of the diaper. It won't do if he is on the back of the diaper. We have run out of Oscars already and she doesn't want the others.

@Andrea-well not that it helps but I don't remember us ever having an Oscar (in 2 years of Pampers use); Good luck-might not be a bad idea to look into the stickers suggested by chopsuey119 above.

@mrbee: that doesn't work since she only wants Oscar and we have run out. they don't have very many Oscars in the box. i am trying to hype up another character.

We use Huggies now and ours has Mickey Mouse on it and there are only 2 options, either Mickey alone or Mickey + Pluto. Never occurred to me that there could be diapers with different characters! That would be a nightmare!

@banana: haha. yea, i went on amazon this morning to check out huggies and i see they have mickey mouse on them. i might give them a try if the stickers do not work. i know, who is the moron who thought to put so many different characters on pampers??

I would never have thought that characters on diapers would create such issues, it's just another thing to worry about, isn't it? I really wish all diapers were plain!

Lol I also thought immediately of stickers! You could have her choose the sticker while you're changing her, and after you get the diaper on you can put the sticker on? might be a nice distraction too

@andrea: Thank goodness Huggies has Mickey on every diaper cause our LO checks each diaper before we put it on him. If some had only Donald or Pluto or whatever, we'd be in trouble! How cute that your LO likes Oscar. Never heard of anyone liking oscar over elmo! lol

@looch: i know...the things that suddenly become an issue!

@mrs. wagon: i don't have any sesame street stickers but i have some other ones so maybe we can decorate her diaper tonight and she will want to put it on! maybe she'll want to draw on it, too. sigh. this could turn out to be a long process.

@banana: i am blaming DH because he told her Oscar is the best when they were watching Sesame Street together!!! i told him that he needs to help me make her like some other character, preferably Elmo!!

@andrea: LOL! It might not be a bad idea for her to like Oscar cause at least she won't be throwing tantrums when you go to the toy store since there aren't very many Oscar toys around. Our LO loves Mickey and they sell Mickey stuff EVERYWHERE. sigh......

ay yi yi! We use the Pampers Sensitive ones, so there are no charachters. Just some pastel stuff. I think we'll keep with that as this is a battle I dont want to deal with when its time! She hates her diaper changes as it is

This might be for toddlers slightly older, but DD1's preschool teacher always tells her little ones, "you get what you get, and you don't get upset". We say it at home in a sing song voice when she starts to get picky about something (usually what she wants to wear or what she wants to eat), and it really helps with keeping tantrums at bay! Although I do think your LO is also just at that age where she just wants to make the decisions, so it's not as easy as just saying that over and over. I wish you luck in your "battles"!

@mr.bee: He watches 30 minutes of Mickey Mouse clubhouse every morning after breakfast. I didn't even know he liked Mickey until we walked into the Disney store at the mall one day. He grabbed a Mickey plush doll and wouldn't let it go. Every time we walk by that store, he insists we go in and he ends up bringing home a Mickey doll. So now he has almost 5 of them. But what's weird is that they're all EXACTLY the same but he seems to have a favorite one. I have no idea how he can tell the difference but he will sort through all of them until he finds the right one to sleep with.

@NYCaliMama: thanks! i am experimenting with saying different things along those lines but it is not working so far. yes, i think she is at that age ..... she probably will need her first time out soon.
