Anyone have any experiences to share?
I am thinking it would be a good fit for me. We arent planning on more kids anytime soon. Hormonal birth control kills my libido. And I am really irresponsible with taking a pill everyday.

This is what I'm interested in too once I stop breastfeeding in February. I'm curious to see the answers.

I have mirena which is the hormonal iud. I had planned on getting paraguard as I'm not too fond of hormones but my ob suggested mirena as you bleed less and have less cramping which is good for me as I am anaemic. I was worried about the hormones but it is a very low dose and they are localized so that limits the side effects.
I have had it for 6 months+ now and have no complaints!!

I've had paragard since the end of August and have no complaints. I've heard it can make your period heavier and cramps worse, but I was willing to chance that rather than chance hormonal side effects from mirena. I haven't had a period yet since LO was born so I can't comment on the effects personally. Insertion wasn't too bad for me. Let me know if you have more questions, I would recommend it!

@sotofamilia: I just weaned! That's why I'm in the market for new BC
@Aimed: Glad you've had a good experience! I've had trouble with anemia as well. I don't have any issues with hormonal BC except it totally kills my libido...and I'd love to find a way to avoid that.
@Revel: Glad you've had a good experience! Do they say that cramps and bleeding are worse than a regular period, or worse than Mirena?

Totally interested too as I'm debating copper or Mirena. I need to decide in the next 7 weeks!

I don't want to discourage you because I think my experience was the exception and not the rule, but mine was inserted incorrectly and I was in extreme pain for weeks and had to have surgery about a month later to have it removed. They missed my cervix and it was just jammed into some tissue in my body. When I am on my computer I'll add a link to some of the other threads that have been written on this.
Again, not trying to discourage-just sharing both sides. Just talk to your doctor about how many they've inserted and if they've ever had any issues.
ETA - Here are the links. @beebug: went through something similar.

@tlcbaby: @DillonLion: I was going to say there are some cautionary tales on the boards. I will say I only felt discomfort for a few days, so that distinction in our experience might be helpful to watch out for. tlcbaby I'm so happy you finally got yours resolved!
DillonLion, I think it is def supposed to be heavier than Mirena, and possibly heavier than before but not totally sure.
