Totally interested! I'm not pregnant but when we told my mom we were engaged her reaction....."WHY?!" She thought we were going to wait longer (we were dating for 3 years at that point)

So I'm just hoping whenever I do get pregnant, I hope she has a better reaction!

I knew that Hubs parents would be excited because they've been bugging us to have kids for a while, but I didn't know how my own parents would react. True to form, Hubs mom and step-mom started crying when we told them and blubbering about babies.

My mom's response: "Are you kidding me???" She was totally happy though - she just had thought she was never going to be a grandparent at this point, haha. And my dad seemed pretty ambivalent, but he's not super expressive, so that was to be expected. They're both helping me paint the nursery though and have bought our crib and a rocking chair, so I know they must be into it!

My mom cried happy tears and was REALLY excited for us.
My Dad was "eh- That's great" but he lives out of town and isn't all that involved

MIL - "ummmmmm - are y'all ready for a baby?"
FIL & step MIL "That's great" but again not too involved.

My mom is the only one that ever really watches the kids & she's always been really involved in G's life (they do date nights & go to the movies often)

My parents were whatever about Baby 2 and my inlaws were thrilled.

@LindsayInNYC: when i got my BFP back in July...i was scared to tell my mom...she has always been the one to tell me to not have kids until we were ready and had spent enough "us" time together...when i finally told her, about 5 days after we found out, she didnt believe me...i had to reconfirm like three times...it wasnt until i started crying that she actually believed that i was pregnant...she was over the moon when she finally believed me and couldnt wait for the baby to come...we unfortunatly had a M/C about a week later...and is now the one to tell us to hurry up already and get pregnant already...my dad was really excited, had a grin from ear to ear...and though my dad passed away almost two months ago...i know that my baby and dad are hanging out together...MIL and FIL, were beyond excited...FIL brought out a round of beer to my BIL's and SIL's when we announced, he actually forgot i couldnt drink and asked if i wanted one...everyone yelled "NO"...it was too funny...

I was scared to tell anyone lol!

My mom cried, and then immediately started talking about getting maternity insurance. Like is wiping away tears looking up insurance ha! My dad is always grouchy and emotionless & he got teary-eyed and joked around but was excited. My sister was surprisingly "whatever" about it, I was counting on her to be the one who was most excited.

My MIL thought we were joking, and FIL said that he needed a drink haha. My SIL cried her face off, she was thrilled.

I think my Mom is going to be very excited. My older siblings already have 8 children between them, but none of them are my Mom's biological grandchildren, so mine will be her first unless my sister is secretly pregnant and beats me to an announcement.

My Dad will be happy for us, but he already has 8 grandchildren crawling all over him for attention so I'm not sure how much he'll be able to give our baby.

My IL's will also be very happy for us, they'd better be at least lol! They shower my BIL's daughters with presents and attention and won't talk about anything else other than the two girls. Their houses are like shrines to his two daughters.

MIL and BILs were really excited when we told them in person. It's the first grandchild on that side and MIL was really over the moon. I knew she would be.

FIL was like, Oh, that's great, wow. Not terribly enthusiastic-- like, genuinely happy, but just not that excited. Again, not surprised, it's pretty much how he was when we got engaged. His wife was more excited, though that's an awkward situation since DH can't stand her.

I wasn't sure how my parents would react since they already have 2 young grandchildren who live way closer to them than we do, but they were so excited. We ended up telling everyone at once on facetime on Christmas eve, while everyone was together, and people were all so excited for us. It was nice. I guess I totally have middle child syndrome because I thought they'd be like, oh, yeah, this again. I hope your parents surprise you in a good way!

Everyone was super excited. I had the first grandbaby on my side so my parents went crazy. Dhs parents were still just as excited.

Our moms are more hands on with things like diapers, especially my mom. I don't mind though. As long as everyone interacts and plays with lo.... I don't mind doing the dirty work.

Dh's mom was super excited! Hugged us and asked a bunch of questions. Very into it

At first, my mom was disappointed because I waited so long to tell her (12 weeks). I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed and hurt by their initial reactions, however. They congratulated us and mom burst into tears, but it quickly turned into "let's tell you how not to mess up this pregnancy so you don't m/c again" and it didn't go over well.

My parents were excited, I think my dad was a bit shell-shocked by the idea since he'd spent 21 years telling me not to get pregnant. Lol but once he remembered that I was a married woman and gainfully employed, self-supporting, etc. he got really excited.

MIL cried. Happy tears and lots of them. DH is 10 years older than me and she was ready for a grandbaby from us.

both sets of parents were excited but in different ways.

my parents were happy with smiles and congrats (we told them in person). the mellow kind of happiness i was expecting since they already have 2 grandsons living in the same house as them.

his parents were super excited with lots of words of congrats (we told them over the phone). their reaction was more of a surprise to me, especially after my parents' reactions. but makes sense as this will be their first grandchild.

Both sets of my parents were very excited and both my mom and stepmom both already had hunches that we were pregnant the day we announced (despite us trying for almost a year). It was crazy. My sisters were the most excited though. This is their first biological niece/nephew.

@lindsayinnyc I hope they surprise you with a positive reaction. Their reaction really sucked. /:
