I haven't watched the newest one but I think Julia is being a jerk. Joel stayed home for years and they switch places and she can't handle it for a couple months. He works with a girl and she flips out and then she goes in and yells at him in front of his boss. If my husband flipped out bc I worked with guys and then came in and yelled at me in front of my boss and then gave a half crapped apology I'd be piiiiiiisssssssssssssssedd, especially if then he used it as a reason to make out with someone. I wouldn't be feeling the love.

@sslm: I kind of Do think Julia is the problem. Yes, Joel is working long hours, but she knew what she signed up for when Joel took this project on. She got close to Ed because she felt alone since Joel was working long hours -- but what about when Julia was working long hours and Joel was a SAHD? He didn't have an emotional affair with anyone.

I think Julia isn't used to being the sole provider and is having a hard time adjusting to her new role in their relationship.

@sslm: yes, it's worth fighting for, but what's the time lapse here? Two weeks?

I think Joel needs to sort out his feelings before he gives counseling a shot. If my husband kissed someone else, my knee-jerk reaction wouldn't have been to run into counseling -- I'd be pissed and need time to collect my thoughts.

I also fell asleep half way through last nights episode so maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture yet!

@Mae: maybe emotional affair was too harsh.. I think she was a bit flirty at times, though. And maybe I'm remembering the sequence of events incorrectly, but didn't she tell ed about her sons school problems before her husband? I don't remember her and Joel having any issues at that point, either. I thought she cried on eds shoulder before even telling Joel what was going on.

Julia worked in an office that was male dominated before she became a SAHM and I don't recall Joel ever feeling jealous about colleagues.

I agree Joel is being a jerk and his unwillingness to talk is stupid and seems like an easy/cheap way to take the storyline. Julia is also at fault for letting herself get in that situation with Ed but at least she's willing to talk and work on their relationship like an adult.

@deerylou: ugh, yes! I used to kind of like her character, but this season she's just so annoying. I understand her wanting to sell the house and travel, but she's being a bit stubborn about it. Seems like Zeke is trying to make an effort now but she's so standoff-ish she makes it hard.

@fussygal: At first, I thought Zeke was being kind of a prick about the house, but can see that he probably has sentimental connection to the home in which he and his wife raised their children.

I'm all for cultivating your interests, but please, Millie. Go back to school for a degree in fine arts, but these six week, international expeditions without your husband, and then acting like a stuck up hipster when you return? I'm sorry, but no.

@HLK208: Right. I literally wanted to punch through the television screen when she came home in her Hollywood sunglasses that she didn't take off, upon entering the living room. And then when Zeke asked her if she was glad to be home, and she just kinda shrugged? Bah. And yes, Jasmine grinds my last gear. Ugh. Okay, I'm acting like these people are real individuals.

I love Parenthood! I am mad at Joel. He needs to get his sh** together. I am glad for Millie to gain some independence but it seems like she wants to see how far she can go with it and that ticks me off.

@deerylou: Yes! I just watched the show, and she bugged me more than anyone.

@Maysprout: I agree with you. I think he was the supportive husband and father all of these years, and Julia has been acting like an ass since he got his contract with Peet.

@Mae: I don't know, i think it was an emotional affair! Texting and confiding about a really hard topic (holding back their son a grade) that was already creating tension between Joel and Julia? I would be really annoyed. Also, most guys care more about emotional affairs than one that's about sex (at least my husband does anyways). @Mrs. Jump Rope: Yes, she totally was letting him comfort her. Grrrr....

@HLK208: It's so annoying when she keeps telling people Ed kissed her...we all saw what happened, Julia!!

Even though Amber annoys me, i cried when she was yelling at Seth during the last episode.

I'm catching up on the newest episodes now. Are we supposed to forget that Hattie ever existed? I know she is off at college, but she was last season too and was in a few episodes. They haven't mentioned her at all.

Millie is really annoying me too!

I just got caught up as well. I'm so annoyed with Millie as well! I feel so bad for Zeke. I'm also really pissed about Joel and Julia. I'm mad at both of them.!

Yes, Camille is being so unbelievably pretentious, but God bless Zeke for being so loving and forgiving of it. On a more typical show, Zeke would've kirked out at Camille at the end about how annoying she's being, but instead he decides to give something up for her. That's why I love this show.

In her last ditch effort to convince Joel to stay, I love how Julia owned up to her mistakes. Way to go, Julia! But stubborn and unwilling Joel just won't have it. I really don't understand! The writers of this show have their characters behave badly and make mistakes like anyone would, but they're hardly ever unreasonable! Joel's behavior is too uncharacteristic of anything showrunner Jason Katims has done. I'm not buying it!
