I'm super surprised about Julia, given the way last season ended. Amber's pregnancy seems kind of par-for-the course in her story line. I loved her acting last night.
I'm so excited it's back!

Can someone refresh my memory as to what was going on between Julia and Joel at the end of last season? I don't remember, did they drop hints that they'd be getting back together?
And I knew amber would keep the pregnancy because they already had someone get an abortion on the show, and I don't think they'd have that storyline twice!

I am already upset that it looks like they are going to kill Zeke:-(. I knew this was the final season, but never thought about them wrapping it up with something as shocking as the matriarch or patriarch passing!
How about Max? Doesn't it just break your heart when you listen to him talk about how mean his schoolmates were? So awful. That child is an incredible actor-you'd swear he actually had autism with how well he portrays the character. "I don't need friends-I have Hank"
Is Hattie now "back" full time? I know last season she really dropped in from time to time, but I'd like for her to be back.
LOVE this show-so sad it's ending soon!

@Jess1483: yeah it's not unlike them but it was shocking as the opener to me! Starting with a bang. Kind of sad it's the last season and we won't get to see Amber trying to be a mom.
@Rainbow Sprinkles: Joel and Julia were in a horrible place but at the tail end they had this emotional moment together with the kids and held hands and it seemed like they might reconcile.
@brady80: it's a very emotional show!
@ChiCalGoBee: poor Max. To be honest I think they sometimes portray him overly monotone and I know people with aspergers to be odd but not monotone in that way. I still love him and the storyline though. I actually think Hank portrays it better.

Ahhhhh I'm watching Grey's online now. Can't wait to see Parenthood! Keep the spoilers coming!!! I like knowing what happens before I watch!

I think killing zeke is way too obvious! I bet it's someone else.

@chopsuey: hahaha that's funny because I'm kind of like that too and people always think its insane. Perhaps we both just suspend our disbelief really well so we don't need the surprise?

@MrsMccarthy: I missed last season why were Joel and Julia in a bad place, what happened?
honeydew / 7295 posts
@Bao: if you actually want to know ill tell you but they are also streaming free on NBC still!

@MrsMccarthy: can you tell me? I don't like to go back when I've already started a new season, I'm weird lol
honeydew / 7295 posts
@Bao: hahah for sure! Basically Joel was super busy working on his new construction project whilst Julia stayed home and felt very unfulfilled and jealous of a pretty coworker. She ended up kissing one of the kids classmates dads who was going through a divorce after they became close. She was acting weed with Joel and finally confessed and he felt that he couldn't forgive her even though things didn't go past the kiss.

What?!?? It's the last season!?!? Nooo.
Ugh, but I'm so annoyed with the storyline of Julia and Joel.
nectarine / 2466 posts
The thing I don't like about Joel and Julia is way back in one of the first seasons when he was staying home, one of Sadie ( is that her name?) friends moms kissed Joel. Julia was annoyed and asked Joel not to hang out with her anymore and they moved on. She kisses a guy ( granted it was much more of a kiss) and he leaves her. I found that odd.
Love this show though, there's always something you can relate to! I'm sad it's over this season

@MrsB2012: I thought part of the difference was the lying/concealment. I'm having a hard time remembering, but didn't she not tell him part of it, and then did tell him later? I'm going to have to go back to watch.
I didn't get into Parenthood until last year, so I watched Season 5 as it aired, but also watched seasons 1-4 on Netflix. So I get a bit confused at times...

I watched all the previous seasons earlier this year, so I'm sad it's the last season. I feel like I just got started, haha. I'm annoyed with the Joel-Julia thing, too. First I was annoyed that Julia seemed resentful if Joel's success. Then I was annoyed that he broke up their marriage over that kiss, which as others have said seemed a little hypocritical. And now I'm annoyed that it seems like Joel wants to get back together but Julia is dating someone else. Must every tv show these days have at least one Ross-Rachel type couple? Lol overall, though, I love the show!

@MrsB2012: it seemed like julia was having way more of an emotional affair, plus being unsupportive of him, plus being totally unfulfilled while she stayed home, even though joel was willing to sacrifice the same and more for her when she worked. I think he should have been more willing to do counseling seriously, but her indescretions were way worse than his IMO

Forgot to set the recording, so I finally watched it last night!!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I think the impending Zeke death thing is a misdirect, too! I think it's gonna be someone else, and the way Jason Katims was talking about how they're gonna wrap up this season, there DEFINITELY is going to be a death. I have my money on Camille.
I liked the way that the Julia-Joel troubles unfolded. They really brought up issues that seem very deep-rooted, and the crumbling relationship seemed organic and realistic -- purely from a storytelling standpoint! Julia's pride, Joel putting up with more than he should, finally being unable to hold it in. Of course I hate that they are having troubles at all, and I do think they need to wrap it up and have them finally reconcile. Mr. Abs At the Office is definitely not long-term material. I think they're gonna have them come back together.
As always, Amber's acting is FABULOUS. Her face when she was waiting for Sarah to stop talking so she could confess to her...priceless.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I think it'll be someone else too! I'd guess Camille.
I am seriously devastated that this show is ending. The whole ensemble is incredible. DH and I just started watching it in the past few months, and we watched the whole show on netflix within a few weeks. I don't think a single episode passed without some tears lol

@ineebee: @ValentineMommy: Camille? I would guess someone less obvious (less old), like Max. I'm using his name randomly, but I think whoever dies is going to be completely out of left field!
I love this show. I'm really sad it's ending, too! It's a show that has gotten progressively better as the seasons go on.

I watched all the seasons online while breastfeesing his spring! Now I'm hooked.
Do we know someone is going to die? I want them all to live.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Joel really pissed me off last season I don't blame Julia for moving on!! If anyone they need to axe Camille. She still annoys me. I'm glad Sarah and Hank are back together though! And Amber is such a great actress. I didn't like Sarah's reaction to the pregnancy.
pomelo / 5791 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I only guessed Camille because they eluded to the "cycle of life", which I interpreted as the next gen becoming the head of the household type of thing (with Zeke being too obvious). Who knows!! I would say the least obvious would be Amber's baby. I will lose my mind if that's who it is.
@Mrs. Champagne: Yea, they've pretty much come right out and said someone was going to die
@winniebee: I also think Camille is really annoying. I totally understand her needing to have her own needs and whatnot, but I can't help but feel that she's selfish and annoying lol I would be the least sad for her to die....not that I want anyone to go, but you know what I mean

Ugh, I didn't know about the death thing! Whyyyy does it seem like every TV show has to kill someone off these days? I suppose it's realistic to have some sort of tragedy, but I'm not necessarily looking for realism in my TV shows... Makes me less excited to watch.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@ValentineMommy: I think I read in an interview, or maybe heard on tv, that this was the biggest tragedy they could think of, after cancer & everything else that they've had through the last five seasons. It's supposed to be huge and shocking, which makes me wonder what will happen. Death in and of itself isn't so shocking, you know?
It makes me worry it's going to be so out of left field!
pomelo / 5791 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Oh noooo! I hadn't read that. Honestly, that does make me wonder if it will be Amber's baby. Perhaps it's because I just went through a m/c myself so it's high on my radar, but I feel like it could happen. The show seems to target high emotion issues (divorce, adoption, cancer, aspergers) and isn't afraid to show these things that aren't often talked about in a family drama..... I'm scared now! Plus, like someone previously mentioned....I feel like people will want to see Amber be a mother and it's a weird time to end a show (with a new character)...so it would kind of make sense. Ok, ok .... I'm just rambling now. But you get my point. lol
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@ValentineMommy: you might be on to something. I wonder if she will have a late term loss...
Ugh. Now I don't want to find out!
honeydew / 7295 posts
Maybe it will be Ryan. He's not a main cast member though so probably not. I can't stand him! I just hope it's not ambers baby or worse they kill amber in childbirth. I kind of think its going to be one of the parents but who knows. Makes me so sad but I also read that it may not be a death just someone dealing with being close mortality. Gonna miss the show so much.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Maybe they will bring Christina's cancer back?
I just can't believe it's the last season. I watched all of them last year and am so attached.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I never watched Friday Night Lights. I should give it a try. I've heard it's great. I don't like football so it's hard to get excited about it. That article bums me out! Only 13 episodes?!!!!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I loved Ryan on FNL too!!! Isn't it funny how all the FNL actors who ended up also on Parenthood are kind of a grown-up version of their FNL characters? Wasn't Luke Cafferty gonna go into the military? And Billy was Billy, and I could totally see Lyla becoming a SPED teacher.
@MrsMccarthy: If you love Parenthood, I highly recommend FNL! Jason Katims was the showrunner or creator (?) for both, and there are a lot of similarities, even though it seems like there aren't! He's said something like, "There aren't any villains. Everyone is just trying to do their best, and they're flawed, so they make mistakes. That's where the stories come." Paraphrasing. I don't like football all that much either, but really it's about the stories about the people and the town. You will fall in love with the characters! Matt Saracen!!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: He was only in one episode a while ago.. When Crosby was getting married, he asked Billy to be his best man because he and Adam were fighting. Billy looked and acted exactly as you would expect! It was hilarious!
