The best piece of parenting advice I've received was from my MIL: "Babies come into the world with their own agenda."
I try to remind myself of that whenever I would get frustrated that he would only sleep in my arms, refused to be swaddled, hated his swing, etc.

"You can do anything for three days." A friend of mine told me this when I was really struggling with something (naps, I think). She said to make a plan, stick to it for three days, and everything will seem a lot better then. She was totally right. The problem may not be resolved, but it never seems as problematic and I'm much better at dealing with it after three days.
