Just curious, if you have multiples are their multiples in either the dad or mom's side?

We had help for our twins...but we have multiples on my moms side and dh's dads side. So I guess we had a slim chance anyway?

None on either side, at least in recent generations. A cousin through marriage has a set of identical twins but they are not genetically my family.

My dad has several sets of twins in his extended family, but our twins (in utero ) are IVF babies.

I thought this depending on the kind of multiples? I have read somewhere that it's fraternal twins that are possibly genetic? I have no idea where I heard this, to be honest.

Fraternal twins is a genetic trait that is passed down ONLY through the mother's side (but from either her mother or father's side). The father cannot impact chances to have fraternal twins. Think about it this way - fraternal twins is two eggs, which means the mother hyper-ovulated. The father's sperm cannot affect how many eggs the mother ovulated to get pregnant.
Identical twins are random, not genetic.
I know of three cases of twins on my father's side from four and five generations ago. Other than that, no twins in my family. DH has twins on his mother's side, but that didn't cause our twins.

Not in my family, but one of my roommates from college has identical twin girls and her dad is also an identical twin. Crazy because identical twins aren't genetic (in my understanding), so just an awesome coincidence!?!

I have a friend that is an identical twin and she had fraternal twins. I know a guy that's an identical twin and he had fraternal twins. I know another family that had two sets of fraternal twins.
