Did you find it cumbersome to wear around the house? I ordered one the other day because it's the only carrier we could find that would fit my husband (it's the sport version). I'm worried it may be too big to just be a "wear around the house" carrier and that I should consider a wrap or sling.
Do you find it to be cumbersome or does it work well for you in any situation?

It's awesome! I wore it at home a few times bc Lo was being needy. Dh wears Lo on his back now. Love it!! Another one of our best baby buys!

My baby is not that into any carriers. Fortunately I got all of them as gifts or hand me downs. She hated the3 different types of slings we tried. She tolerated the baby bjorn ok when she was really little. Now I use the ergo to take her out for quick walks or to get the mail with me. It's pretty easy to use and LO likes it ok. My friend uses her ergo all the time...she had the infant insert since the beginning and now her baby is 6 months and she still carries her everywhere in it.

I started with a moby wrap and we got the Ergo at about 8 weeks (used with infant insert) and I found them to be about the same in regards to cumbersomeness; you just have to get used to whatever carrier you have.

I don't have the ergo, but have the beco gemini and it's similar. I love it. And it's super easy to wear around the house to get stuff done. I really appreciate it. It's easier to cook/do chores with an SSC than a wrap.

I use the Moby around the house, and I wear the Ergo out of the house for longer periods of time. I think either would be fine for your situation, though. They're both very comfortable and easy to use.

like @sandy Wagon Jr. was not into any kind of carrier at all. The few times I wore it around the house it was fine to wear and pretty comfortable.

I don't have any kids yet so I can't really add anything but I thought the comfort of your baby carrier depended upon your size. I think MrsBee had a link that compared baby carriers. I thought I remember reading that some petite moms liking a certain carrier over others.

It's not cumbersome to wear around, but I find it difficult to put on with the infant carrier. The bjorn is much easier but my little 2 month old hates it and prefers to ergo.

I used it at home, but my son got really hot in it. I found it a lot easier to deal with than the moby.

the Moby is a bit tough to master... takes a bunch of practice! but the ergo is easy... it's like a reverse backpack.
Re: cumbersome level... The ergo may seem more cumbersome because of its padding and buckles, but it's not too bad. Don't underestimate the Moby though either... It's one long-@ss piece of somewhat thick/heavy fabric.
A sling is another option, but babies outgrow them quick and they aren't as comfortable...
With any carrier, it is tough to do certain chores around the house anyway.

I have the ergo sport carrier and I do use it around the house. I prefer it to a sling because it even distributes the babies weight so I can wear her for longer. I cant wait for her to be big enough so I dont need to use the infant insert any longer

i LOVE the ergo! I wear it when shopping, going on walks/hikes, and I'm looking forward to using it as backpack-style at Disneyland. I wore the moby more when LO was smaller and loved that as well. When he was able to support his neck, I didn't use the infant insert for the ergo, instead I rolled up a receiving blanket under his legs and he did just fine.

I love my Ergo. I use it more outside the house, but I think its easy enough to put on for short periods at home.

You could also get the performance model, which is lighter.

@Mrs. Jacks: we had to get the sport model because my husband is a big guy and needed the extra length in the straps. Once I don't have this big belly in the way, I think I'll just see how it goes with the Ergo. If it's cumbersome, maybe I'll get something else to carry her around the house in.

@mediagirl: With little ones I feel that the wrap type carriers are so much more snuggly and comfy in the house, but that's just me
