Do your kids have a passport? If they have one, how old were they when they first got a passport? Did you get one because they needed it or did you get one to have it just in case?
Our oldest gone one when he was almost 2 because we were going on an international trip. Our baby doesn't have one yet since we aren't sure when our next international trip will be.

Yes! We got her one at 7-8 months because we were taking an international trip at 10 months!!

We applied for one when LO was 5 weeks old because we were going on an international trip when he was 2 1/2 months.

My girls had them by the time they were a few weeks old because we were living overseas, and wanted to be able to return home immediately in case of emergency. I'm glad we got them overseas, because they process super quickly that way - we had them back in 7-10 days.
It's kind of funny though, because neither child's picture looks ANYTHING like them now - they are only a few days old!

We're going to get it very soon. DH's job can require travel with no notice and sometimes we can go. And the company trip next year is in Mexico, so she'll need one before she's a year old anyway.

We booked a trip to England the day my son was born (I was still in the hospital) so we applied for his passport as soon as we got his social insurance card.

We applied for one for LO at 6 months because we started traveling internationally with him at 9 months. We tried to do his photo ourselves and it was a hilarious effort.

E and I both got ours when he was 14 months old because we're not really a far drive from Canada.

We got a passport for my son around 5 months in anticipation of a trip at 7 months.
We do intend to travel internationally approximately once a year so we probably would have gotten it even if we didn't have a specific trip in mind.

We live only a few hours drive from the Canadian border (well, like 4 hours) and traveled internationally when LO was 2, so she's had her passport since then.
Her passport picture cracks me up. She looks THRILLED lol

DD has two and we are about to apply for her third. The first was to travel on, the other two are just to maintain her entitlement to them. DS is only three weeks old but we about to get his Canadian and then either his Spanish or British, so he can stay in England for longer than six months.

we just live 15 mins from the US border, so they both got them young so we can hop over for shopping etc. I also have a lot of family in the states to visit. I love looking at their hilarious baby passport photos!

My children both have two passports and we applied for them when they were each 5 weeks old. Since we are a dual nationality household we wanted them to have each passport ASAP since we have to travel to visit family. We were especially in a rush for DD since she was born in a country where neither of us are citizens. We've traveled internationally many times, DS was 6 months the first time and DD was 3 months.

We applied for DD's when she was about 6 months old because we were traveling to DH's home country to see his family when she was 8 months. We've been to Canada since then, and are just about to go see DH's family again. She will have traveled more my age 2 than I did until I was 20!

My son has two passports, he really only needed one, but since we had to get an American birth certificate via the consulate, we applied for the passport at the same time. He was around 3 months of age.

DS got one when he was 18 months. We were going out of the country. Otherwise I would have waited. They're not cheap!

DD got hers right around her fourth birthday. We are going on international trips annually for at least a few years. We didn't NEED one for Canada last spring because of other options but thought we should just go ahead and do it anyway. She looks super serious in her pic because I told her (per online research) that she is supposed to have a neutral expression, no smiling or frowning. Hilarious!!

We got DD's when she was 9 months old for a trip we took when she was nearly a year. Unless we really wanted flexibility in last minute scheduling, I don't think we'd have done it sooner--mainly since her passport only lasts 5 years because of her age.

We got DD hers when she was a few weeks old because we had an international trip planned at 3.5 months. We'll get DS's while DH is on paternity leave as well for another trip planned at 8 months. On paternity leave because it's just easier, they want both parents there for the application (or else a signed affidavit).

We got DS one when he was a couple of months old as we were going abroad on holiday. I find it funny that he'll have it for the next 5 years but in the picture he just looks like a little baby!

We got them both passports early. Five weeks for #1 and 12 weeks for #2.
