This is a genuine question, but I've been trying for the longest time to understand the appeal of the anywhere chair... It's on a lot of wish lists, but isn't it just a chair? What do LO's like about it and how do they play with it besides sitting on it? Sorry, I'm genuinely confused! Is it more of a keepsake thing because their names can be embroidered?

They're pretty much just a chair, I think it's the personalization that people love? I don't know...and maybe people love it because it's cute for LO's to have their own little chair? My LO used it to learn to pull herself up and these days she will only read books if she's sitting in that chair. When she's not around, our dog likes to nap in it. That's pretty much it!

For me yes it is definitely a keepsake item that's super cute. But also, even though they "just sit in it"... My LO is obsessed with the one at her daycare. She climbs all over it and she'll often get a favorite toy and then take it over to the chair to sit and play with it. I also think it will be nice when she's bigger for her to have her own special place to sit for things like family movie night.

I just thought it was a cute addition to LO's room but I didn't realize how much she would love it. I think she's so crazy about it since it's just her size. She'll sit during story time at night or to climb haha but she uses it every day!

My lo is obsessed with his. He loves sitting in it, eating snacks and drinking water in it, rubbing his face in it...he just really loves it. No idea why--maye bc its his size? However, I honestly think any other chair would serve the same purpose.

It's good to know that the LO's love it! Is it big enough for an adult to sit on too? DD likes sitting on my lap for story time and that would be appealing if we could sit together on it and read.

@Mrs. High Heels: I have no advice on the chairs but I noticed today that the Land of Nod chairs are on sale (15% off) until monday. They look very similar and have two sizes. I was thinking of getting a small one for my LO's playroom, even though she isn't sitting up yet!

I think they're cute, but the appeal is that they're on a ton of wish lists. It's like that pair of Guess jeans in middle school. They weren't really that special, but popularity made you think they were. And honestly, who is going to store a foam chair for their grandchildren? I don't really think of it as a keepsake. I think a cheaper kids sized chair would accomplish the same thing.

I wanted them because of the personalization, but Wagon Sr. is major anti PB (think Phoebe from Friends, plus stinginess.. Haha). So we have pkolino little reader chairs, which are cheaper, don't tip as easily, have pockets in the sides for books and a handle on the back so kids can drag them around. We love them! We got them both as gifts from people who asked for our amazon wish lists for the kids.

@mrs. wagon: I don't think DH would go for it either! It'd probably take some major convincing. Plus I guess getting this would defeat the purpose of the minimalist lifestyle I've been working towards this last month. They ARE so cute though!

I asked the same question recently, lol! I think people like the personalization and choice of fabric designs. Otherwise, most other cheaper chairs will do!

I don't get it either - but then, I don't really care for the look of them. The personalization thing confuses me too. Why pay so much for something that only fits your kid for a few years and then you can't even give away, because it has their name on it?

We have the Anywherechair and she like to colour in it, read book in it, eat snacks, uses it as a step stool, drags it all around the house. Like anythign else, I think kiddos like have their own version of something adults have. When DH and I sit in the TV room in our chairs, she follows and sits in her so very happily.
FWIW, we didn't get our embroidered and I don't really care. I want her to share with LO2 when s/he arrives so it's everyones chair.

Not my thing- I don't care about fabric or personalization, I just wanted a kid sized chair. Plus I'm super cheap, so I found one that worked at Homegoods- it is very well constructed and sturdy.

We ended up finding the cutest pink and white polka dot chair with a matching ottoman at babies r us last year around this time, and Abby loves it. It is sturdy, like a mini version of a piece of furniture you'd have in your living room. Abby sits in it all the time and loves it! She'll also drag the ottoman over to the table and sit on that and play. So yes they might cost some dough, but little ones love small things in their size. Toys R Us and Amazon have little fold out couches and those are a huge hit as well, and they do last quite a while.

I got a super cute mini arm chair at Homegoods that matches LO's room theme. I'd rather spend less (for something that's probably the same level of quality) and spend more money on something handmade like a little wood rocking chair that might actually last long enough to be handed down.

I love DD's for the personalization, cover design, shape of the seat, size (will last many many years since I can sit in it too)..
My inlaws purchase the seat for her for her first Christmas. I priced a seat for my son and yikes! Not sure I'd spend $160+ after tax and shipping on a seat for him. Hoping family will buy it for him

I'd never seen the PBK chair before HB, PBK is a bit out of our price range. My uncle bought jake a little leather recliner and he loves it! It actually looks nicer than our 'real' furniture so it can be in the living room where we generally are

I just think they're cute. I really like the PBK aesthetic and we've kind of become PBK buying wh*res, lol. Our whole nursery is decorated in stuff from PBK - furniture, bedding, shelves, etc. I didn't really realize how popular the chairs were until after we bought ours. I think we liked that it matched the lamp we got.

I think it's nice for LO to have just any kind of small chair that he/she can pull themselves onto. I've seen other versions at HomeGoods, BRU, and The Land of Nod. My BFF even bought her LO a mini leather recliner for her own seating! For me, ultimately, I just want something that:
1) LO can get in/out of on her own, safely.
2) Doesn't scream baby/kid in the living room and matches or blends in with our decor. In that regards, I feel like PBK and The Land of Nod have better solid choices than BRU or Home Goods. -
I don't get it either. Target has similar ones for cheaper though and that's I'm considering. Lo likes to sit on the big couch with me though!

Growing up floor pillows and bean bags were all the rage. Although I think almost any non-character child size chair is cute I am leaning toward the monogrammed Land of Non bean bags for my future LOs.

My son sits in his, it's kind of like his "spot." We keep ours at my parent's home and it's in the living room, just like any other chair would be.
Part of the appeal is that he can get in and out without climbing on anything and potentially hurting himself.

I think any kind of seta or chair is nice for a LO to have - it doesn't have to be the PBK one.
I agree they are too $$ for a chair - we use bean bags and they love them

@Weagle: I agree with you. Although I also feel that there isn't much else out there that is similar, am I wrong? I've looked for chairs because J seems to love having a chair just his siz. But the only ones I've found are Disney character chairs. So maybe that's the pull of PBK- they are a lot more neutral.
