This is an update to my thread re: the nail biting and eyelash pulling, in case anyone else is going through this.

After talking with the pediatrician, he thinks she's doing it either because of new anxiety about the new baby or as a way to soothe herself. He suggests giving her the back. He said dentists say that age 4 is the latest to get rid of the paci, and given our situation, using the paci is the lesser of the 3 evils (since teeth can be fixed but psychological problems are much harder to fix).

So, we're going to backtrack and give it back to her at bedtime for a few weeks, as well as focusing on positive distraction during the day when we see her putting her hands in her mouth. (like getting her to catch a ball or throw something in the trash, etc.)

I'm nervous to give it back, because I never thought I would be the parent of a 2 yr old w/ a paci, but if it's going to soothe her and ease her anxiety, I'm willing to try it. Wish us luck!
