We have a horrible fire any problem in our back yard, and put poor puppy keeps on getting bit 
There are soooo many. I need to find the mound first, but does anyone have suggestions? I would really prefer not to use harsh chemicals, because I don't want it to harm my dog.

@Dandelion: I've killed ant mounds around us with boiling water, I never thought about adding vinegar! We just have the pesty little black ones, nothing harmful to my pup though.

I HATE fire ants. I don't have any pet safe ways to get rid of them - we usually dump tons of Amdro on the mound(s). I think the smell of it keeps the dogs away because we've never hand any trouble w/ them trying to eat it.

@BabyBoecksMom: I'm just afraid of my dog stepping in it He has been biting and licking his paws a lot lately because of all the fire ant bites on them. That's why I'm trying to stay away from the chemicals
