A friend just had her baby and I am taking pics of him while they are still in the hospital. There are three times when I could go:
1. Tonight around 5pm. It's rainy and cloudy and will be dark soon.
2. Tomorrow morning at 8am. It will be cloudy but the sun will be coming up.
3. Tomorrow around noon. Weather says it will be partly cloudy.
I'd prefer to take them first thing in the morning with full sun but that's not going to happen. So, which would you choose?

I would definitely pick the second option, morning. Noon is the most unflattering light, unless it's overcast. Evening is nice when there's a golden hour, but not if it's cloudy and dark! Is it inside? That makes the time of day matter a bit less, though you don't want dark, and nice morning light coming in the windows would be nice.

#2. Even if the light is muted by the clouds. If there is a big window it kind of acts like a large light box, softening the light, but still giving you natural light, which is best for newborns.

Option 3/option 2. I take my indoor portraits (like hospital or newborns) between 10am-2pm. It depends on how cloudy and where the window is located.
