DH and I would like to take a road trip with baby S when she is around 10 weeks old before i return to work, but I am having trouble choosing a place to go! We are near Philadelphia and looking to travel no more than 5ish hrs by car... Any suggestions for a good place to go with an infant? Any places that would be particularly baby-friendly?

I always recommend the finger lakes/Ithaca area. It's pretty, with lots to do outside.

@bisous: What about renting a house up on Cape Cod or Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard? Nice and relaxing! I think it's tough to stay in hotels with a LO (especially that little) so it would be nice to go somewhere you could rent a house.

I hadn't considered the Finger
Lakes--we have been there a couple times and loved it! We normally do winery tours, but I am sure there is lots to do even without visiting the wineries. -
St. Michael's and the Eastern shore of Maryland.. beautiful!

@bisous: ooohhhh, yes we used to camp at Taughannock Falls near Ithaca. I love the Finger Lakes. Go to Cornell and have their ice cream! So amazing. I would not, however, recommend camping at Taughannock Falls with a 10 week old
but there's a trail to hike up to the Falls that's pretty - I think it was a mile?

I love the Finger Lakes during the summer! Skaneateles is also very beautiful. Both options are perfect for a low-key trip with an infant!

Does Washington, DC count as mid-Atlantic? We took DS when he was 10 months. I felt like it was baby friendly and there is tons to see and do.

@lamariniere: DC definitely counts! That is a consideration for us, I am just worried it could be super hot and humid in the city. At least there is a lot to do indoors!

@bisous: that's true. I used to live in DC and the summers can be brutal. But it's true that everything has a/c so depending on what you are interested in doing it could be ok in the heat. If you can wait until September you would be more likely to have gorgeous fall weather.

@lamariniere: September would definitely be better weather, but I will be back to work and I am trying to take advantage of being on maternity leave! We may just do a weekend there in the fall in addition to this trip since we owe some friends who live in NOVA a visit.
