Your picture is what I fear! We recently transitioned DD into her crib outside of our room (on the second floor) just to start and day 1 she managed to prop herself up to her armpits trying to climb out. Scared the crap out of me because the stairs is right behind the crib! She's only 10 months and it makes me wonder how long I can keep her in there!

Oh crap! I can sympathize, we are nearing that point too. No way do I feel he is ready to sleep in an open bed though Or maybe it's just us that aren't ready!

Yeah, Henry's fifteen months and I'm dreading this inevitability. We have his mattress at the lowest setting but he's a tall little guy and standing up, he can almost rest his arms comfortably on top of the railings. Argh!

Oh no!!!
@Crumbs: WTF?! The just climbing part, sure because my brother and I used to climb up inside a doorway or in the hallways all the time. But him CARRYING his toy while climbing?! Shut. up! No way!!!!

I introduced the toddler rail before my LO could climb out of the crib. Of course the transition still hasn't been easy a whole two months later. Maybe it will be only a one time occurrence.
@Crumbs: Wow... *mouth drops*

Wow! Was she like, "Oh, no, I wasn't escaping I'm just... napping. Zzzzzz..."
@Crumbs: oh my god.

@ladyfingers: haha I like that. I think really she was stuck and couldn't figure out where to go from there.

@Mrs. High Heels: I'm closing my eyes. If I can't see it, it's not happening.
@808love: I agree it would be really cute if it wasn't my kid playing crib gymnastics!

My DD climbed out of her crib at 18mo too, and we took the side off her crib that day. It took her a week to get used to her newfound freedom. She will get up and play on her own in the morning, and after naps she will stay in her bed and call for me. I think the key was not acting like it was a big deal (or we just got lucky to have such an easy transition).

@Crumbs: OMG that's a real child?! He looks like a spider!!!
@Mrs. Train: oh gosh! You do not deserve to have all FOUR Children pulling this trick on you!!!
Overall though has a female toddler been easier than the boy toddlers?
Btw someone said girls are easier- but I've heard boys are because although they're rambunctious, girls are emotional... I suppose they may not be old enough to assess this though

@Mrs. Pen: she has been easier so far but I don't know if its because of her personality, because she is a girl, or because I am more confident as a mother. Maybe a little of everything? She is pretty rough and rumble but then she also spins around smiling when I put a dress on her. She does sit for longer periods of time quietly on her own but when she wants my attention she is much more vocal and demanding (she is currently sitting behind me and kicking my back yelling please because she wants me to sit on the floor with her, which I will do as soon as I am done). She is very opinionated which I can see difficult times ahead and I fear a little bit for the teen years. Bit the boys have been giving me a ton of trouble too. From the short amount of time I have had the boys seem slightly more physical while she is more vocal and emotional. That was kind of a rambling response sorry. I hope or makes sense.

Oh how I am not excited for that again... my older lo started that shortly after turning one and was transitioned into a toddler bed by 18 months because she just kept jumping out
