I LOVE the ring you already have, it's so beautiful! But that's more of my style, you should go with what you love!

i vote pave! your stone stands out more and doesn't compete with the others as it does with the partial eternity.

Okay I know you're all dying to know what I've decided on.. HAHA. *rolling eyeballs* Thanks again for all your input!!
*drum roll*
No setting change.. for now. I'm still torn between the eternity and pave and don't want to regret my decision. I figure I can always change it in the future when I'm 100% sure what I want.

I think your solitaire is gorgeous! I tend to like understated jewelry (I have a solitaire as well) and think that your current ring is just so classic and pretty.

I'm partial to pave b/c that's what I have and I've got noooo complaints! BUT, you're current ring is gorgeous! Can't go wrong with a classic

Who would notice a setting with that stone?! Love it!! I'm biased and voted pave because I'm a pave girl. In the end if you come across the right setting, you'll just know. And if not, what you have is probably meant to be.

How about a new wedding band that has a bit of bling on it? I think that your engagement ring is very popping and speaks for itself - it doesn't need anything more! But if you had a thin wedding band either pave or half-eternity then it might look really pretty! Regardless, no one can deny the beauty of your e-ring! Wowza!

Heehee... you know I am all for setting changes! I'm on my third setting myself!!! Mine's the third in 7 years, but still, 3 rings is 3 rings I'm glad you're sticking to the solitaire until you are positive about what you want. You don't want to regret it and have to change again later!!
Like you, I regretted the fact that I changed settings twice already so I wanted a setting that I can wear until I'm a wrinkled old lady. I'm absolutely 100% in love with my setting now!!! I personally don't like the solitaire look anymore because I feel like as an older woman, I want something a little more solid-looking. It's funny but I feel like solitaires are for young women. I never thought I'd feel that way!! I thought solitaires were classic and perfect forever. But now I think my 3 stone is perfect for forever!!
Can't wait to see what you ultimately decide on... I agree with others, maybe upgrade your wedding band for a half or full eternity with some juicy rounds to go with your JUICY stone!!! hehe. BTW I voted for eternity because I think that is also classic and lovely!! Pave is beautiful but I would never get it because I'm way too clumsy with my rings and stones would be falling out all the time.

@Chastenet: Does it matter if the metal is white gold or platinum? I've been wearing my platinum pave engagement ring for almost 3 years, and the wedding band for almost 2, and haven't had a problem, but they do seem to be deeper set that other pave rings I've seen. I do take them off for things I think will bang them up though-- weights at the gym, lots of cooking things...
@Rubies: This is what I had planned on doing-- classic solitaire setting, with a pave eternity band wedding right (like the Tiffany Legacy band). But H went overboard and got the pave engagement right so no complaints!
@chopsuey: Your ring is GORGEOUS! I think the solitaire really sets off the diamond best and any more would be superfluous.

@Foodnerd81: Platinum would be a bit less malleable than white gold, but it's all about the number of prongs they have holding the diamonds in place (and how many of those are shared) and how far around the band in terms of width the pavé curves. Having one row of diamonds set across the middle is not really a quality issue, but having several rows that wrap around can make it more fragile and prone to bumps from the top or bottom.

@Chastenet: Phew! Mine has almost a corner in between the rows (1 row on the top and 1 on each side). So they don't seem terribly prone to getting knocked around. I have a friend who already lost one tiny diamond in hers, where it rubs her wedding band, so then I got nervous

Listen to your jewelers, ladies! One friend of mine insisted on a wedding band with shared prong rounds with only two prongs on each diamond. So yes, the diamonds shared only a single prong with their neighbors. She scouted jewelers until she found one who would actually make it (most said it couldn't/shouldn't be done). She had a solitaire for an engagement ring, and even though the wedding ring was lovely, she lost the middle stone in the first week (on her honeymoon!). After getting it replaced, she lost it AGAIN a year later. Since it was just a 5 stone band it looked awful and she had to go without a wedding ring while it was getting fixed TWICE. (so far!)

@chopsuey119: holy crapola that's a beautiful ring!! Either you have tiny hands or that's a giant rock - or maybe both

@chopsuey119: Yowza girl! Now that's a ROCK!! I love the look of a solitarie ring. Classic.
