@LAZB: My brother and sister-in-law were faced with a similar situation this time last year. They opted to continue the pregnancy and let nature decide. It's a terrible situation to be in. I'm glad your friend opted to do what she felt was right for her. In the end that's all that matters.

I wish your friend the very best! What a heartbreaking and traumatizing diagnosis to receive. As you may know, we received a similar diagnosis with our third son (open spina bifida and hydrocephalus) but based on his brain damage, decided not to continue the pregnancy. I hope her child has a very good outcome.

@winniebee: thanks. I know I had mentioned my friend to you on FB before, you both received the diagnosis at a similar time. Unfortunately, things are not looking good. Baby's kidneys are shuttng down, and it looks like they may only be able to provide comfort care after she is born. They are still keeping her in as long as possible, but the prognosis is getting more and more dim.

@LAZB: so sad I'm so sorry!! I'm convinced there are just no right decisions in these situations. You just do the best you can with the information that you have. I hope things turn around, even if it doesn't look good now.

As an update for anyone following, my friend's baby passed away this morning. She lived for almost two months, they got to enjoy life at home with her, went to parks, festivals, out to eat, had her baptized, met many friends, and all sorts of "normal" family activities. They are so happy to have had the time they did with her. Now she has joined our son in heaven, and we will try to do our best to support them down here.

@LAZB: Thoughts a prayers for your friend. What a blessing to have some time as a family to do all those wonderful things, but even harder to then let go and say good bye. Many, many prayers.
