Have you heard about this story? This was posted on the Badass Breastfeeder facebook page last night:
"At around 8PM tonight a woman and her nursling were in attendance at a concert at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in San Diego, CA. She posted a status on Facebook stating that a security guard told her to stop breastfeeding. The female security guard stated that it was making others uncomfortable.
This mother was trying to feed her youngest in her baby carrier, however security continued to stand next to her and even photographed her, taking the photos to the supervisor. At around 9PM, she was escorted out by the Chula Vista Police. CVPD's reasoning was that it was abuse for bringing a baby to a concert, stating they will be filing a claim with CPS.
Her husband is deployed right now and she needs our support. I am still in contact with the San Diego Nursing in Public Task Force and will continue to update you."
This is horrible! Taking pictures of her breastfeeding (in a carrier no less so it had to have been at least somewhat discreet)? I'm so sad for this mama. I wonder if the police had some legitimate reason for their actions that isn't being reported, but it sure doesn't sound like it.
