I inherited some silverware from my great grandmother and plan on using it on Thanksgiving. It needs to be polished though. Do you have any tips? Do I need to wash it all first? What's a good brand of polish to buy?

Oh, lucky girl!
I have a bottle of Silv-O polish that I bought at the grocery store. It works really well - just make sure you use a rag you don't midn tossing.
I think you need to polish, then wash, then dry REALLY well.
There is a "fast" way, too - I have never tried this (I don't have silver flatware), but my MIL swears by it:

I use Tiffany's polish cleaner for my jewelry that works well, but I agree with @septca: to use a rag you don't mind tossing bc it gets pretty gross!!
I heard toothpaste is a great cleaning agent also. just make sure you test a small area first to make sure it doesn't "scratch/damage" your silver!

@septca: thank you! I was hoping I would be able to get something at the grocery store. I didn't know if I should wash first or polish first.
