It started around 3m pp and lasted until around 6m pp. I knew because I started combing/brushing out larger chunks of hair (althought mine was never too obvious on my head), and also large chunks (like 15-20 strands at a time) in the shower.

With #1 it started around 4m and ended about 8m? Second time it started earlier around 3m and still going now at a year.
Hair falling off in clumps at a heavier than normal rate. Tons of hair coming off during shower and brushing. Like clumps.

@blackbird: ugh yes. My bangs are horrible right now. I've got like 2" of hair growing at my nape. I can't win because i can't leave it down because i just leave hair everywhere. But when I put it up it looks ridiculous with this 2" mullet.

It started around 4 months PP and lasted forever!!! I knew it was PP hair loss because the amount that was coming off my head was redonk. I shed normally, but this was like a new rug every day. It was gross!!

Not really. I've always lost tons of hair. I just stop losing so much when pregnant. I go back to normal afterwards.

Ugh, it's the worst! 3m pp until 7-8m. Then the awesome 'fringe' started growing in. DS is almost 20m and my hair still feels thinner than before.

Oh you will know, don't worry!
One day you will hop in the shower and as you run conditioner thru your hair gobs and gobs will come out - mine, like others was the worst from 3-6 months

With LO1 it was 3-8 months PP. With LO2 it started at 2 weeks and is getting nuts at 3 months. I know because EVERYTHING is covered in hair. I find it in baby's diaper, neck rolls. It's all in my bed, I feel it on the carpet. My vacuum is a mess. And the hair mass that ends up in the small of my back at the end of a shower is so gross.

started around 3 mo and lasted til 7 mo. hair everywhere, it came out in small chunks. i'm 13mo pp and my hair is finally grown back to where it at least kind of looks like bangs (uneven bangs... but at least its not sticking straight up anymore!)

Omg am I losing hair!! I don't know for sure when I first noticed it, but probably 2mo pp, because I'm just past 3mo now. I have long hair, so wear it up everyday & I lose handfuls each time I shower. I've decided not to even bother getting it cut because I'm certain the long stuff will all fall out soon enough & then I'll see what's going on with the new shorter hair. It's pretty shocking to lose this much hair each (or every other) day.

Around 3 months pp it started falling out in clumps, especially when I shower. It was a very obvious and drastic change.

From about 4-7 months both times. Showering becomes pretty scary. And yes, the regrowth is possibly worse since it just sticks out around your face.

I'm right in the middle of this. I'm losing tons of hair. It's everywhere. Make sure you get a filter for your shower/tub. My husband finds it everywhere, it's in the laundry and ends up in his clothes, all over our house, I seriously can't keep up with the vacuuming. Swiffer dusters actually do a pretty good job of capturing it and make my life easier.

I noticed it the day DD turned 3 months old--I had on a black sweater at work. I have light hair, and I looked down to literally clumps of hair on my sweater. EW.
Now, DD is just over 8 months old and I can tell it's slowing down. I'm still shedding more than usual, but that's better than feeling like I might go bald. Good luck!

Yup...it started around 3 months and lasted through 9. I had a halo of little broken hairs around my head. As for how I noticed...my bigger question would have been, how could I have not noticed? It was coming out in clumps. I couldn't run my hands through my hair without having a clump come out.
