FTM question...
What did you pack and use in your bag for YOU while in the hospital and then also use in the first few weeks after coming home from the hospital...
As for baby, i think i am just gonna take him some outfits, a A&A blanket, a blanket my mom made him and socks and undershirts, butt paste...hospital should provide the diaper and other things so i am not lugging that stuff....

The only things I used for me were toiletries and a comb. I wore hospital clothes until an hour before I went home.

I had an unplanned induction, so I didn't have anything with me other than my handbag and work bag! The only things I asked DH to bring me from home were (1) a nursing bra, (2) a maxi dress, (3) a cardigan to go over the maxi dress, and (4) flip flops!
ETA: Take anything and everything you get from the hospital home with you. Seriously!

I tell every single mom this - get a stepstool to help you get into bed! Not really something you can fit in your bag, but it was a lifesaver when I got home!
The hospital provided all the pads, undies, and gowns I needed, but I loved having yoga pants, nursing tanks, and my own socks for when I felt human again.
For when you get home:
Tucks pads
Peri/squirt bottle (hospital provided mine)
Overnight pads
Panty liners
More yoga pants + nursing tanks

I wore two outfits (yoga pants, nursing bra, nursing tanks, and rouched maternity t-shirts) with sneakers (socks). I brought my own toiletries. The hospital provided the mesh underwear, huge pads, peri spray bottle, tucks pads, and numbing cream for the stitches. The hospital also had "ice packs" of baby diapers soaked in water and frozen, which sounds weird but felt great and reduced swelling down there. The hospital provided ibuprofen and stool softener while I was inpatient.
When I got home I was still using the mesh underwear with giant pads and tucks. The hospital sent a bunch home with me. The peri bottle got a lot of use too. I continued taking stool softeners for awhile because I had stitches and well, you get the idea.
I was really glad I had made a bunch of 'padsicles' beforehand. I took thick pads, soaked them in witch hazel, wrapped them back in the wrapper, stuck a bunch in a ziploc, and froze them. Those were great ice packs for down there. I continued taking ibuprofen to reduce swelling for a few weeks too.

My list for me:
chapstick/toliteries

robe/slippers/socks with grippers
pillow/my "blanket"
A binder (my hosptial provided one) but I wore that thing for weeks after giving birth!
Less is more in my book! I took WAY too much. I did wear my own clothes after day 2 but always had a robe and slippers on over them (I was there for 4 days due to NICU baby/low iron/c-seciton) so my husband brought me several outfits because I wanted to change after each shower (feel normal.)
Oh, seriously take all the mesh underwear you can from the hospital...so nice.
At Home:
drawsting pants (I was a c-section mom) & I was happy to have frozen meals so I wasn't worried abotu cooking. Also stock up on all household stuff (Toliet paper, paper towels, paper plates/cups/ect.)
@Bookish: A step stool would have been amazing, I slept on the couch for a month healing...why didn't I think of that!? haha

Pads
Cheap undies - I have really sensitive skin and the hospital-provided mesh ones gave me an itchy rash!
Nipple cream
Peri/squirt bottle since you can't use TP to wipe, and wouldn't want to anyways. The hospital provided one (I had no clue about this as a FTM, never would have thought of it). I think I used it the first two weeks PP.
Nursing tank
Warm socks
Flip flops for the shower
I also just wore the hospital gown until it was time to go home. I wore yoga pants, a cotton long sleeve tee and a hoodie.

At the hospital, I only used toiletry items like shampoo, body wash, tooth paste, etc. and phone charger! I also wore warm socks that have sticky bottoms on them so I could walk around with out shoes.
The hospital provided a ton of postpartum care items, and I loaded up before checking out so I didn't need to purchase additional items (thankfully). Items I found useful though:
Tucks pads
Peri bottle with warm water
Epifoam

I only wore my nursing tanks and yoga pants. I brought my makeup and some toiletry items, but I didn't take a shower until I got home. The mesh undies, pads and witch hazel pads from the hospital were heavenly so I didn't need much else.
