So Lucy is 28 months old. She's been showing signs of being ready to potty train for awhile. She comes up to me after peeing in her diaper to tell me, "Pee-pee mama! New diaper!" She has a very reliable poop routine. She can pull down her pants... All that good stuff!

So a month ago we started the 3-day method. The only thing different is we put her in big girl underwear instead of having her naked and were using pull-ups for naps and nights. She seemed excited and most of the first day went great. She peed in the potty 4 times and even pooped. Then in the evening of that first day she refused to try. After several hours she had an accident. Day 2 and she only peed in the potty 1 time (mid-accident). She's refused to try and had many accidents. She cried, "No potty! No pee pee!" and kept asking for her diapers back.

Day 3 was similar. She would not even sit on the potty and had many accidents.

So we gave her a 3-week break. A few days ago I assembled a little "potty prize" basket with lots of little trinkets, toys, and stickers she would like. I put it in the bathroom and said she could pick something out when she went potty. She was SO excited but then wouldn't even sit down again. My husband finally thought it would be a good idea to do potty practice and she reward her for even sitting down. That's been going pretty well but she's very clear in that she's practicing and every time says, "No pee pee, just practice."

This morning she begged to put underwear on and told me she knew that meant using the potty. We did one practice run. Nothing. She then crawled up in her bed and peed EVERYWHERE. Didn't even phase her, she just asked for new underwear and a shirt.

I am so frustrated!!! She is completely capable of using the potty, I've seen her. She just doesn't want to. I know you want to wait for your child to have the desire to but she is very stubborn and I feel she's just making a stand with this. I don't think giving her more time will change anything.

But where do I go from here? She's happy to have accidents all day long. They don't upset her in the least. If anything she's happy to help me clean them up!

I would be BEYOND grateful for any insight from you wise potty training parents. Thank you!!
