The issue is risk of uteran infection because your cervix is still open. I would find another way to have fun, either manual or oral.

I had internal tears I didn't know about and only discovered the source of the pain months later. It got so bad that my OB suggested trigger point injections. This didn't happen because we did it early or anything, but I would get things checked first.

I would wait. I had scar tissue from my tear that I didn't know about until my appointment. I had it removed and waited for that to heal before having sex. When we did, it was not painful at all.

Eeek sounds painful. Can you do other things instead?!

Everyone makes the good point that when your cervix is open, you risk infection. My midwife's policy was nothing until your bleeding has stopped, like others have mentioned. I would for sure wait for that.

And I feel you! My husband and I were the ones hoping the nurses wouldn't bust in on us in my recovery room, so it's more common than you think.

At 4 weeks PP with DD we tried and it hurt really bad. I also had a pretty horrific tear.

At 4 days PP with DS we did it and I was sore but didn't really hurt. Didn't tear at all that time.

I didn't feel ready for a while, but a friend who gave birth a couple of days before me ended up with a horrific infection and ended up haemorrhaging, and she had sex with her husband 3 weeks pp. They were just fooling around and got carried away. Unfortunately her OB thinks it might affect her fertility. I'm not sure if she was still bleeding when they did it...like PPs have said if you are still bleeding I for sure wouldn't.

I'd wait too. Also, just warning, I wouldn't expect it to be business as usual. I labored 18 hours but never pushed or anything and ended up with a c section. I had no pain whatsoever down south so I assumed when we resumed activities it would all just be normal. Not so. For us things didn't really go back to normal until after I stopped breastfeeding (hormones I think?) although it did get better from the first time after.

We had sex 4.5 weeks post partum, and it was ok ... not super enjoyable (because I was kind of freaked out my vagina feeling huge, or tearing or something). But, it didn't hurt, and I felt ready.

I'd offer a blow job at 2 weeks pp, but I had stitches, and sex would have been a big NO THANK YOU! Plus, I'd be concerned about infection ... everything is still healing.
