Ok, so I've started slowly creating my cloth diaper stash. I'm only in the beginning of my second trimester, but I figure it will be less painful and shocking on the wallet (and the hubby!) if I only buy a little at a time.
I know that cloth diapers need to be prepped before use, but I don't know exactly how.
How many washes? Do I need to dry them between washes? What water temperature? What detergent?

Depends on the diapers you have, each are different.
The pocket diapers with MF inserts only need to be washed once.
Prefolds need to be washed (and dried) at least 5 times; as well as hemb, bamboo.
Each diaper should have instructions, or you can look at the MF's website.

So far I have bumgenius and grovia, but I'll be getting rumparooz, blueberry, and kawaii as well.

We have BG pockets (4.0s) and as cocobee said, we only needed to wash them once. I thought it would be more of a process but apparently that is really for prefolds.
The darker color BGs did come with stickers saying that they should be washed 6 times before using to avoid running, so I did a couple back to back washes with them. We never had any issues with colors running though.

@Arden: yes, look up the individual diapers. For example, my Grovia AIO newborn diapers had to be washed and dried the five times (or whatever...I can't remember, but I did give birth when I was still in the process of this....p'd me off because I wanted to start with cloth). But all my 'big boy' pocket diapers only needed one wash (BG 4.0, and a bunch of other OS pockets).

Yup what they said. Only natural fibers need to be washed many times (5 or so).

Synthetic fibers like microfiber & most pockets just need to be washed & dried once. Many suggest drying the first time on hot to seal any holes there may be around the threading.
Natural fibers such as cotten, hemp, or bamboo will have to be wash 3-5 times. For prefolds you can boil them for 30 minutes & then wash once, that's not advisable for natural fiber dipes that have pul like the grovias.
Natural & synthetic dipes need to be prepped SEPARATELY, once prepped they can be washed together. Knowing the individual diaper specifications is important as well since some suggest using bleach, vinegar, or other things that would cancel the warranty on other dipes.
