Background: Yesterday, seemingly out of nowhere, we get a letter that “Lead Teacher” has left the school for personal reasons. Today, the parents on our group chat found out that the Director had cut her pay and wanted her coming in a half hour later. She kept coming in early for a while because 3 kids were there at that time but wasn't being paid for it. When she stopped coming in early, the director yelled at her about why she wasn't there. She hasn't been given a raise in 15 years (Omg) and is the primary breadwinner for her family. So basically this was the straw that broke the camel's back and she felt she was not being appreciated and had to resign.

The parents are all in a group chat about how to get Lead Teacher back. She is beyond wonderful and obviously this is hard on everyone- kids and parents. Most WOH and are worried about childcare but also this particular teacher is why many are at this school in the first place. They wanted a meeting with the Director. When a mom called to set it up, Director told her that of course she wanted Lead Teacher back but she would need to talk to her directly. Well the parents convinced Lead Teacher to agree to finish out the school year with our kids and call the director. Director then was supposedly pretty mean and told her she had already found a cheaper teacher to take over. So here we are.

The whole drama is pretty nuts on so many levels to me. Ultimately the best case scenario would be to get Lead Teacher reinstated but everyone is so shocked that they are just throwing out suggestions ( a petition, a walk out, leaving and having lead teacher serve as babysitter) and nobody has a plan. So bees, any ideas?
