I saw this article on cnn this morning and figured I would see what you all thought. A single mom who works as a professor had a sick baby on the first day of her college's classes. She couldn't send the baby to daycare so she brought her to work with her. During her class the baby became fussy and so she went ahead and breastfed the baby while teaching a class. I'm very pro breastfeeding, and I think that if a woman feels comfortable to breastfeed in public she should go ahead and do so. But I think this was inappropriate. I don't think it's OK to breastfeed while you are in a professional setting. I would certainly never breastfeed my baby in a conference room during a client meeting or a team meeting. Also, I understand the idea that if people don't like seeing a woman breastfeeding that's their own issue and they should look away. But these students HAVE to look at the professor as she is teaching them. And they are paying for the service of taking her class so I think they have the right to feel comfortable in the setting.
