So my 19 month old LOVES the dirt and the sandbox, and since he is still rearfacing that means muddy, sandfilled shoes after daycare.

So, carseat protectors are supposed to be a nono for safety, and he is not ready to face forward yet. So, my question, I guess is, does anyone have a hack for keeping the nastiness off the back of the seat without taking off his sneakers? (He has a MELTDOWN whenever we take off his shoes, so if I can avoid it that would be awesome.) Do you put a sheet up? Just resign yourself to destroying the material? Take his shoes off and make that a new routine (ugh)?
