I can't watch the video. What's the danger?

I saw this on facebook earlier this year, but I dont really upload photos from my phones so it didnt bother me too much

I've seen this before, and thankfully, the default for geotagging is set to "off" on my phone.

@JoyfulKiwi: The problem is, if you have geo-tagging on when you take a picture from your phone and load it to the internet, people can find out exactly where that picture was taken. The threat is that if you are taking pictures of your child and uploading them to facebook, predators can find out where you live and the most comment spots you visit, just from the coordinates listed on your picture. So, it's best to make sure the geo-tagging feature is turned off.

Thanks! I've had the "location" feature turned off since I got my smartphone. I never wanted people to know I was posting from a certain location - that's weird. I always comment when people do that on Facebook that I'm glad to know their house is empty so I can rob them

I never geotag my photos. I never understood the appeal of it, or of foursquare.

I read this last night and it is most definitely scary how much can be found using the internet now! Luckily I turned off location services for every app on my phone except Maps, Find My iPhone, Weather, and some other mapping apps I have.

@mrs. wagon: yeah, I'm not allowed to tell anyone when the three of us are going away until after we're back in case someone wants to break in and rob us.
