Just wanted to share a tip regarding amazon prime memberships.
If your prime shipments don't make it within the promised two day timeframe be sure to let customer service know. I've had a lot of problems when they ship usps and every time I do the online chat with customer service about a missed shipment they extend my membership by an extra free month. I think I probably have over six months free at this point.

good to know!! lately i've been getting some things saying "guaranteed" delivery date and others saying "estimated" but all should be prime 2-day shipping. i will def do this next time i order

nice to know! i've only ever had one or two prime shipments get delayed, almost always due to nasty weather. Hell, most of the time, they arrive in 1 day instead of the promised 2!

We always do that too! It's frustrating though, when it was something that we actually needed by a certain time and all they offer is a free month of prime. That's worth, what, $8?
We had a package that was late this week "due to weather," (which they don't consider their fault) even though it came from VERY nearby, and there was absolutely no inclement weather between here and there at ALL. DH was pissed. And my mom was in customer service for a while for UPS, and Amazon has started using some deal where USPS actually drops them off sometimes, even though USPS makes no guarantees it will be on time. So she was getting all kinds of pissed off calls because packages were late, and it was because Amazon was cutting corners, not anything UPS was doing wrong.

a package was stolen and they only gave me a refund.

@Torchwood: I've noticed that a lot lately - it ships UPS but then gets dropped that local USPS office. I just had a shipment that was due on Thurs 3/5 get delivered on Wed 3/11 because it sat at the local USPS for 4 extra days. It wasn't Amazon, but good to know that Amazon will rectify it.

Oh, good to know. It probably won't happen off in our area since they just built a huge distribution center in Southeastern Wisconsin. We now get taxed because of the facility, grr!

In general I noticed the problem when amazon started using usps more. Including where they use ups and then it transfers to usps. Those are the worst. I always make a point of telling the amazon rep that those the the problem packages. It really pisses me off because the tracking on usps is soooo bad that I never know how late it's going to be.

Ooo i hadn't noticed that USPS had been delivering our amazon packages lately. I think ours are still arriving UPS (i get texts on my phone from UPS when it gets delivered and I'm often home when the truck drops it off)

@sarah.clarisse: umm...perfect timing! I ordered R four pairs of shoes on Tues and they aren't going to be delivered until tomorrow. I was slightly annoyed but figured it wasn't worth throwing a fit about. Took 5 minutes to do the chat and ask why there was a delay....blamed on the carrier (USPS) having a one day delay, and gave me an extra month of prime!

Thanks for the info. Amazon prime has been sooo slow lately. They take a week or longer to even ship my stuff and then a few more days till it finally arrives. So frustrating. I've been thinking of canceling.

I've never had anything arrive late on Prime. except once when the east coast got slammed with snow and there were travel bans all over. I thought about trying for the prime extension then but figured because of the severe weather it wasn't worth it.
@tiramisu: wow, that's surprising. I sometimes select no rush shipping now to get the $1 media credit and it's still often shipped out within 2 business days and arrives 2 days after that.

So good to know! I have had this happen a ton lately since Ive been ordering a lot of baby stuff from amazon.
