I'm going back to work next month and need to decide between two pumping set ups.
1) Use my own Medela PISA in my office. I have a lock on the door and would be able to keep working. Even with a sign on the door, if my secretary was away from her desk I might be interrupted with a knock occasionally. I could pump on my own schedule. There is a fridge nearby, but no sink so I'd have to carry my pump parts to the bathroom to rise them. I'd also have to haul the pump back and forth to work.
2) My office has a nursing mothers rooms with hospital-grade pumps (Medela Symphony). You just bring your own tubing and shields. There are facilities to clean and store pump parts and milk right there. There are private rooms, comfy chairs, etc. I could nurse without any distraction. However, I'd need to schedule the time to pump and stick to it. I'd also lose the time going to and from the room (which is on another floor).
Basically, I sort of like the idea of taking breaks during the day and pump more milk while relaxed. But I don't think the inconvenience of scheduling and leaving my office is worth it unless the hospital grade pumps are really that much better.
