C has been doing this for a while-- since 4-5 months, though obviously she wasn't pushing very high in the beginning. She started sleeping on her tummy around that time so it came together. Still doesn't roll onto her back though.

R does this every once in a while during tummy time. But she'd rather be on her back so she still tends to roll right over.

@swedishfish: That's exactly what C does! Zero interest in being on his belly.

Around 4 months, but she didn't start reliably rolling until 7.5 months. She'd just push up and get mad that she was on her stomach.

This thread makes me feel better as at 4mths S has no interest in pushing up onto her hands...she hates being on her tummy with a passion! I see lots of other babies around her age pushing up already so I'm glad to see there are others here whose LO's haven't done it yet so I won't worry so much!

What does pushing up on hands mean? Is it just lifting the head and shoulders off the ground using the forearms or is it planing we're talking about??
E pushes up on her forearms (and has since about 3 months) but that's as far as it goes! At 6 months, she doesn't roll, doesn't sit unaided and if I put her on her tummy she lifts her arms and legs off the ground and attempts to swim while crying. Sigh!

@Cherrybee: @Smurfette: Yep, like a pushup! With straight arms. C pushes up with his forearms... just not his hands.

@Pepper: I don't remember exactly but at 4 months she was doing planks.

@Cherrybee: S does the crying/swimming thing too until we rescue her because it's obvious she's not going to get anywhere with it! At this rate I don't think she'll ever roll, crawl, sit up etc. She's really responsive to anyone communicating with her though and at trying to "talk" back, so we joke she'll be 1yr old, still lying on her back on the play mat barking orders at us to fetch her this and that!!

G just yesterday figured out how to push up on her hands + knees. No planking or pushups here yet!

@Pepper: Yeah, we're a million miles away from that!!
@illumina: Haha, that's a funny image! It's hard not to worry though, isn't it? Like you, I can't imagine that E is ever going to start moving!!!
