We started about a week ago and it's hard, but he has definitely started sleeping better!

Aww, I'm sorry! I dread the day LO goes in her own room. If it were up to DH, it would be tonight!

@MarieJ: Haha if it were up to DH we would have done this like 3 months ago!

I know... I miss her so much! My LO has a stuffy nose, so I've been trying to have her sleep in her room for the first 4 hour block (8-12), as her room has a humidifier (the master has a vaulted ceiling, so the humidifier wouldn't do much). It's really helping me though that it's not for the whole night... after she wakes up, I move her to my room. Maybe you could do the same and work up to a full night in his room?
Or are you switching from co-bedding to the crib?

@78h2o: We were half co-bedding/half PnP, but decided to bite the bullet and move him into his crib tonight. We had him napping in there during the day today and he did okay, but tonight was rough. He screamed for 45 minutes (I went in every 15) before falling asleep. I think maybe it's too dark in there though. There are these high windows that let in light from the kitchen but it's still darker in there than I realized. I'll pick up a night light tomorrow.
I'll be shocked if he doesn't wake up to nurse in a few hours, and am undecided about whether or not I'll bring him to bed with us then or put him back in the crib.

Hope it's going well! We are going to try and do this with DS tomorrow night and not looking forward to it...

We moved her at four months. Not sure if it made sleep worse because we were in the middle of a sleep regression. But she loves her crib! Every morning I hear her talking and laughing to herself. And I love not having to tip toe around when I come to bed.

Well it took an hour to get him down (I went in twice, once I just rocked him and the second time I nursed him, but not to sleep). After he fell asleep he slept for 6 hours, which has to be a record for him! I may have stared obsessively at the video monitor to watch him breath...when he woke up I brought him into bed to feed him and doze for a few more hours.
Overall a success! It was weird not having him so close but DH and I appreciated not needing to be quiet when we went to bed (and having full use of our bed!

Awww, hugs! You will sleep so much better with LO in his crib though.

It was so hard for us to put her in her room when she was 5.5 months but it was easier to sleep train her that way. She now sleeps so much better, even though the first few nights were rough, and it's honestly nice to have our own space back and not have to be super quiet when she's asleep.
