If you sent them, how long after LO was born? Did you wait to have newborn photos taken, or did you use pics from the hospital?
I love birth announcements and want to send them out, I'm just confused about the timing. Especially for those who had newborn pics taken within the first 2 weeks.

We got pics taken at 10 days and I'm mailing ours our next week. He will be 8 weeks old.

We had newborn photos taken at 9 days old and mailed them out when the babies were 1.5 month old.

Mine took a long time. I got them taken at 10 days but by the time I got the pictures back and ordered the announcements lo was 3 months.

We got the pics taken at nine days old which was December 5th. Our photog was awesome and let me go through his camera at the session and choose the pick for our card and then edited it and emailed it to me three days later. We did a combo birth announcement/holiday card so we were on a time crunch!

Thanks for the info! That's along the lines of what I was thinking, timeline wise. It just seemed like a really long time to me. Glad it's the norm!

@MrsRoo: I am planning to pick out a few of my favorite announcements before the birth, so the decision is easier to make once I have pictures. I know a lot of people who didn't get them out for months because they were too tired and busy to sit down and go through the tons of options. Hopefully I can handle it if I only have like, 4 options to choose from. In theory

I sent them within 2-3 weeks of LO's birth, but we didn't use prof pics aside from the hospital ones. (The hospital contracted with a nb photographer.)

We had pics taken at 11 days. Sent them out when she was 2-3 months old

We had an early december baby and also did a combo announcement/holiday card. I just took a million sleeping pictures myself and picked one to send out, so they were about 3 weeks after she was born. I think people will be happy to get them whenever you send them!

We had newborn pictures done at 5 days. Sent birth announcements around 3-4 weeks. My suggestion would be to buy your envelopes separate then you can work on addressing and stamping them while you wait. That way when your announcements arrive all you have to do is stuff and seal them and you're ready to mail.

We just got ours and will be mailing them this week. LO is nine weeks old. Our pics CD got list in the mail and it took several weeks to get things straightened out.

We had hospital pics taken but she was all puffy and I don't even think they look like her. I ordered announcements with some pics I took myself at 4 weeks. By the time they go out she'll probably be 6 weeks.
