@Becksabee: first off, I am so sorry to hear about your MIL.

We planned our wedding in about 10 months. A lot of stuff can be done last minute, but booking things was done up to 10 months before in case things booked up.

Things like decor/cake can probably be booked really quickly (I know our local cake shop would take on something small with just a few days notice).

Are you wanting to get married before/during or after your pregnant?

@Becksabee: Wow I am so sorry to hear about your MIL - I think it is awesome that you want to have her around for these events. Your future DH and MIL are very very lucky.

I think that a small intimate outdoor wedding can be planned for this fall i.e. relatively quickly (depending on how much you plan to do yourself vs contractors etc.).

You can easily plan a small wedding in a few months. It all comes down to what you want & what you feel you can do without... what are the most important factors? I know for my dress (got it at DB) it had a possible 12 wks to come in b/c it was white (they said white is special order). Some photographers book out a year in advance, do you possibly know someone who does this.. or maybe a student at a near by college?

It most definitely can be done... I planned a *very* small outside wedding for a friend in less than a week!.. nothing blog worthy but she was happy & that's all that matters!

If you started ttc right away then that would possibly give you a baby by next Fall (given you have no trouble getting pregnant).

Again, I'm sorry about your MIL condition. =( I hope that no matter what you decide it can be done with as little stress as possible so y'all can just enjoy your time with her!

DH and I planned our small wedding in about a month and it was plenty of time. It was easy because our focus was on family and making a happy, stress free day. I didn't have any other preconceived notions of what I had to have so it was just like planning any other party. My dress was off the rack from DB, flowers were from Safeway, cake from a local bakery, photographer from Craigslist, party trays of food from the local upscale grocery store and a friend to say the vows. Simple but exactly what we wanted. The only thing we would have changed with more time is sending invitations. We just didn't.
