Looking for some quiet post bath activities that my 2.5yo can do on his own while I prep for the next day.
We just moved his bedtime from 7:45 to 8:30 so I'm hoping to find a few activities that will calm him down before bed and give me 20 minutes or so to prep lunches and pack bags! I am too wiped by 9pm to do it then haha!

Do you have an easel? Can you set it somewhere that the floor can get dirty and set chalk or crayons on it with paper to draw on?
I love sensory bins, too. You could make slime, a rice or bean bin, an indoor water table.
My daughter loves slime. She plays with it for 20 minutes or more sometimes. I put little Toob animals in it and she uses tongs to remove them from the slime. She will call me over to "hide" them again and she does it all over again. I think the recipe I used called for a cup of water plus 1 teaspoon of borax - mix together. Then one cup of water plus one bottle of elmers glue - mix together. Combine both and mix until too stringy to stir. Use your hands to mix until consistency of slime.

I agree with @mediagirl: on a rice or bean bin - add some small cups and funnels and he will have a blast!!!

@mediagirl: Would a rice/bean bin work for a 1.5 year old? This sound mostly fun but I am picturing a lot of rice/beans on my floor.

@.twist.: i think that's when we started the rice bin with M. I put a sheet under it (a king size sheet...) and most of the rice stayed in the tub/on the sheet. So then when she was done, I would just pick up the sheet and dump it outside or into the bin. It got to the point where I got lazy, though and just let her play with the bin on the linoleum so I just had to sweep up whatever came out of the bin.

@.twist.: we started rice/beans/oats at about 1.5 - the sheet is a great idea but I usually just let him have at it on the litchen floor.
@mediagirl: i love the idea of slime! we have colored rice and steel cut oats but it would be nice to switch it up! we have a chalkboard wall but hes not super into it womp womp.
@Mamaof2: love playdoh! he recently started eating it though - WTH!? He used to be fine with it. I do keep putting it out though in hopes that he wont eat it...someday right?!

Books, coloring, KinnectSand (if you can keep an eye on them), LO likes to cook after bath in her kitchen and she's obsessed with her princess castle, so she can play with those for 20 minutes.
