Our wedding was in a Catholic church, and there was a quiet room. We didn't require, ask, or expect babies or small children to be in it. We did have one really short (a few seconds) cry from one child, but it didn't bother us at all. Our LO isn't here yet, but if I were going to a wedding with a quiet room, I'd probably gauge whether to sit there based on:

A) where there are seats left (if the entire church will be packed, you might be more comfortable there assuming you can see/hear and if it's less crowded) and

B) how your LO seems to be acting that day. If s/he isn't feeling well and is fussing a lot, I might just sit there right off the bat- again, assuming you can still hear/see the ceremony just fine. If the baby seems fine, I might grab a seat wherever we were more comfortable and then discreetly move to the quiet room with the baby if there were any issues.

I can't speak for weddings as much, but I know that for regular Mass some parents dislike quiet rooms because they feel isolated or because they feel it encourages misbehavior (if others are using it as a "run wild and do anything because nobody can hear you" room for their kids). If you'd rather not be separated from everyone else, you could always sit in the back and just take LO outside the church if they get too noisy or fussy.

I haven't been to one of those, it's sounds like a good idea though!

Our wedding was outside so it had lots of background noise. We had one baby there, her mommy said she was singing during the ceremony and she didn't bother to walk away because it was a happy baby sound (I'm glad, I didn't notice but I wouldn't have minded if I did).

My LO was just flower girl at my sister's wedding at 11 months. Our plan was to keep her stuffed with snacks, but we were so busy prior to the wedding that we didn't realize that she only had 5 puffs left so when those ran out she screamed. It was in a used bookstore so there was really nowhere to go. My mom scooped her up and ran towards the back and the change of scenery distracted her enough to quiet her down.

Our church has a "Mother's Room" in the back, with soundproof glass looking into the sanctuary. It has rocking chairs and a couch, changing table, toys, etc.

As a kid though, my mom never sat there unless she needed to breastfeed. Instead we had quiet time every single day at home, for an hour at 11AM. We had to sit on the couch and play with quiet toys, books, etc. She was basically training us for church. It worked!
