I've finally decided to break down and buy a good pair of rain boots. I need something with support (not just some $20 Target boots). A friend of mine suggested Muck boots to me and those look good. But I'm curious what others like and why. Again, they need to be supportive so I can comfortably stand for a few hours in them if needed.

@mediagirl: this isn't super helpful, but I have a pair of Tretorn ones that are definitely a step up from the old $20 target ones I had, but I wouldn't want to walk a ton in them either. I couldn't justify spending the money on hunter boots but now I wonder if they might be worth it. Just seems like so much for rubber boots.
Eta: friends recommended Kamik ones but they ran really small for my big feet.

I just bought this pair of sperry's! I love the look of duck boots. I tried on several brands and these were by far my favorite! Definitely not the normal tall rainboots, though!

@mediagirl: I've never had issues wearing mine all day for outings. I find them very comfortable and supportive. I got the mid calf ones instead of knee high so they aren't as heavy to clunk around in and I think that helps with the comfort.

I have a pair of Hunters. They're comfortable and classic. They're supposed to be excellent quality, but fwiw, the buckle of mine broke within the first two months I owned them.

I have 3 pairs of Hunters. I can only wear shorts because the talls hit the bottom of my kneecap. I don't have a problem but you could add insoles. I love them because they never leak. I was sick of buying multiple pairs of cheaper boots that all leaked quickly.
