Both of mine seem to hate car rides. I thought they were supposed to be therapeutic and put them right to sleep?? It took 4 months for DD1 to get used to the car - I hope it doesn't take that long for DD2. I really hate hearing her cry the entire ride 
If your LO hated the car, how long before they were ok w/ it?

DD is 12 weeks and she still gets cranky if the ride is longer than 15 min. I got the travel homedics sound machine and I think it helped her last a little bit longer, but it stopped working.
She always is smiling when i put her in it, but as soon as I tighten the straps, she gets grunty and cranky. I think she is uncomfortable in it with the straps that tight, but I can't do anything about that!

I bought a baby Einstein mirror that lights up and sings songs. He's okay if that's playing but it's likely a hazard in the event of a crash.

Mine hated it until (terrible parent confession ahead) we attached our Kindle Fire to the headrest and let her watch Baby Einstein videos. It was a last resort and to make it less awful, I tried to be extra vigilant about no TV time at home. Also, we don't spend a lot of time in the car, luckily.

LO haaaated her infant seat. We got a convertible seat around 4 or 5 months and it's been a lifesaver. We had to put her back in the infant seat for a trip we recently took and it was right back to death screams!

She got better around 8 weeks. I put her in it every day even for 5 mins sitting in the living room. I think it helped

Ugh, yes. I don't remember having this many problems with LO1 in the car seat, although it was never a therapeutic, magic sleep inducer for her. But LO2 (12 weeks old) hates the car seat with a passion! The only way she is somewhat settled in the car is if I am in the backseat next to her, talking and singing to her the entire time. Obviously that's not always possible...
And the cherry on our cake is that once DD2 kicks off in her car seat, DD1 feels compelled to join in. It's awesome. DH and I have decided we should run a service for parents of adolescents - we'll offer 30 minute car rides for their teen in our car with our two screaming babies. It will be the best birth control ever

Yep, big time. I think it's because we so rarely drive anywhere so she's just not used to it, I pretty much always had to lean over and put a boob in her mouth to calm her down. Not the most comfortable exercise.

He hated his infant seat. Now that he's in the convertible seat, he loves it! He isn't all squished, he can see outside, and it's just comfier.

She didn't mind it when she was a little baby but now she hates being strapped in, unable to sit up properly or get about. She screams all the way to daycare every morning.

LO hated it until she was about 3-4mths. I don't know if it was her age or because we hung one of those toy garland things along the top and that seems to keep her entertained pretty well. Though at 7.5mths she can only manage around a 30min journey before she gets bored so if we're going for longer than that we time it for a nap time.

He's finally started to be okay with the carseat now, at 13 months old. I am so thankful for each trip without a meltdown!
It was definitely not the magical soothing cure all it was made out to be for a long long time.

DS1 gradually became ok with longer rides but probably was 18 mos by the time we could do 45 minutes without crying. He is much better now at age 2. DS2 does ok for a little while like 30-45 minutes at 5 mos old without screaming. Neither one sleeps in car seat unless totally exhausted and then only 20-30 min at most. I thought we were the only ones

Somewhere around 4-5 months, she got better. She would scream her head off the whole time she was awake. And for 3-4 weeks she would scream the whole way to my parents 45 min away. Then she started falling asleep on the way to my parents and slooooowly started being ok when she was awake as long as I sang to her, then sloooooowly she started being ok when I wasn't singing. Now, she'll only cry if tired and then she'll fall asleep. We powered through and drove somewhere every day. She had no choice but to be ok with it.
