So yesterday a stranger lectured me on my coffee intake and BFing habits. Today some guy followed me for a block to give me his umbrella.
I had decided to take a walk up to the dollar/grocery stores. It was mostly sunny when I left, but halfway there (it's a 2 or so mile walk) it started raining. Not hard, and it wasn't cold, and E wasn't getting wet so I didn't really mind, and kept on towards the stores instead of turning around and going home (DH has the car today). I was half speed walking/half jogging, and pass a young guy (I'd put him in his late teens/early 20s. We have a college here).
A few minutes later he grabs my arm (I nearly turned around and punched him, by the way) and insists I take his umbrella. I say "Thank you, but I'm alright." "Please, I insist." "No really, I'm okay." "Please, I have another one in my bag." Well at this point I'm not going to stand in the rain and argue so I take the umbrella and thank him very much. He kept walking in the opposite direction (I never did see him take another umbrella out).
It was a cheap thing, and almost gone blown apart with some wind gusts, but I was really grateful for it about ten minutes later when it was pouring.
Anyway, it was a very kind gesture from a stranger. Have you been on the receiving end of any random acts of kindness lately? How about the giving end?
