It was a good enough name for Jimmy Stewart in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance!"

Dustin and Rachel from Millionaire Matchmaker named their son "Sin" which to me has an extremely negative connotation, Ransom seems similar, but not as bad as Sin

I wouldn't use it, but I like it. I think of the protagonist from C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy first, and it does have historical use as a name, particularly with Christians (Christ as ransom for our sins). Not for me, but not in the same category as other word names to me.

I definitely wouldn't use Ransom. I just can't picture a grown man named Ransom.
I don't see whats wrong with Addalynn though. I probably would have spelled it differently, but I think its pretty. I actually know 2 little girls with that name.

Nope on Ransom.
My cousin wants to name her baby "Rowdy" and it makes me think of a bad, rowdy kid and I don't know why she wants to use a name with negative implications. Ransom kind of reminds me of that!

I knew a guy named Ransom. I'd never heard that as a name before and it took me the longest time to "get" it as his name. I've warmed up to it, but don't think I'd ever use it because of the negative connotations of the word.
