I'm on team real tree and we've had a real one for the last two years. Hubby plays along as long as I water it and keep the floor needle free. I secretly think he likes it too but doesn't want to do any upkeep.

It's gotta be real! Luckily DH feels the same way.
The pine needles are worth the fun of setting up a unique tree every year. Our whole house smells like pine!! Christmas is not about cutting corners and making things as easy as possible.

Fake trees here. I can't keep up with the maintenance!
DH and I do want to take LO(s) in the future tho, so we'll probably do real a couple of times when he/they are school-aged!

I love real trees but with a toddler and large dog in the house I just couldn't handle it. Plus there isn't a place to put it where we aren't constantly brushing up against it.

I grew up without having a tree. Once we bought our home, I made sure to have a real Christmas tree. This is our 5th year, and I love everything about having the real deal. It's not that much of a pain to sweep, and the smell sets me in the Christmas mood.

Right now all we have is a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I thought I was fake tree but there are locals farmers here I can support by doing real tree so next year real tree it is!

Real! this is our first real one since 2010!

Fake tree, I like that it is low maintenance, prelit, and can fold up in the box until next year
I do miss picking out the tree, so many when the kids are older!

I grew up with fake. When I lived with some girlfriends, they got a real one and I wasn't a fan. Half the ornaments were too heavy for it. I am glad DH is allergic to the real ones,

Fake. Allergies, less fire hazard, not dangerous to cats and babies...works for me!

Fake! I only had a real one for a couple years and I'd much rather have a fake.

Fake for this house!!
1) DH is 'allergic' (not quite buying it, but whatevs)
2) We're cheap! We got 2 free hand-me-down fake trees - real ones can get quite pricey
3) I'm too lazy to maintain a tree that's going to die in a couple weeks...
I really miss the real tree smell, but I'll settle for other holiday candle smells.

We had a hand me down fake one (that was easily 25 years old) and I hated that thing! I swear it shed more fake paper needles than my real tree ever does!

I technically think I am allergic to real trees (I always get rashes on my arms after setting it up, but I don't get sneezy or anything like that) but I still would rather have the real tree than a fake one lol.

Fake! I do not want to deal with the allergy itchiness, fire hazard, or upkeep. The last time we got a real tree it had a bunch of spiders in it. I'm itching just thinking about it!

@swurlygurl: My MIL told me DH was allergic and thats why they never had a real tree. Except he never ever had a problem with the fake tree at my parents house. We decided that it's better when you cut your own because they're not bundled up and growing mold? At least that's what she decided! lol!

Real tree. If I'm being honest, other than the tradition part, I get a real one because I don't want to deal with storing the fake one!

Fake prelit. Stringing tree lights was a point of contention with DH.

Team Real Tree! We did fake a few years out of necessity, but I love me a real tree

We've always had real trees but this year we're going to get a fake. I'm tired of the pine needles (I'm STILL finding needles from last year's tree in our shag rug!), and my cats (and I presume my kid) will try to eat them. Plus this year we'll be traveling a lot and I don't want to have to worry that we'll come home to a dead tree.

Growing up, my family ONLY ever had fake trees. We have a tiny apartment, so can't get a real tree yet. I can't wait to get a bigger place and have my first real tree! Some day!

Fake unfortunately
We usually get a real one but I think that this year we will have a fake as I suspect that little mister would love to dine on the needles, considering that yesterday, I found him eating the top of our door stopper as I tried to coax it out of his mouth while mentally working out the fastest route to the ER. (I got it out before he tried to swallow, Thank God! - but I can live without a holiday season of those moments, so fake it is!)
Enjoy that wonderful real tree smell those getting real ones!

I'm a fake tree lover, but not because it is easier. It takes more time to fluff the branches and put on the lights (ours isn't pre-lit) but I can make it look exactly like I want and don't get poked by needles.
It's much cheaper, (I got 2 hand-me-downs in great shape) and more environmentally friendly. It's also cleaner - no falling needles, watering, or disposal!
We also put some evergreen essential oil in the branches so we get the real Christmas tree smell

Real! We went and cut ours down yesterday. It's a little charlie brown-ish but the sentimental value is through the roof

I prefer real but they are not worth the cost and hassle and work to me so we have fake.

I've never ever had a fake tree my whole life. Luckily my husband is the same way! The real ones aren't that messy and I think they look so much better.

We are team real, but decided to get a cheap ($20) fake one this year because we were unsure of how the toddler would be with all the needles.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
We rock the fake tree because it's easier to deal with (no daily cleanup) and can pull it down from the attic easily every year.
I'd love to get a real tree one day though. Maybe when DS is old enough and can help us pick one out!
