-stack cups - LO started stacking things closer to 12 months

-stack blocks -LO started stacking things closer to 12 months

-put puzzle pieces in, like Melissa & Doug style puzzles - LO still can't do this at 16 months and it doesn't worry me a bit (and I'm neurotic)

-eat out of a dish (instead of you handing them foods 1 by 1) - Depended on the food. Because of food intolerances we didn't start any table foods at all until 9.5 months so we were a little behind on these things. But now at 16 months she can self feed with a spoon so she caught up.

-drink substantial amounts of water, from a sippy or regular cup - Straw cups were MUCH easier for LO to get the hang of. Right around 9/10 months was when she started doing better with drinking water.

-clap - Yes, LO could clap by then.. I want to say she started at 8/9 months?

I don't think LO was doing any of that but clapping at that age. She used a straw cup, but didn't drink substantial amounts from it (we were still nursing), and could probably use a plate but I never put it in front of her at that age.

@MoonMoon: G is almost 10 months and she is doing almost none of those things. The not-clapping and not-waving is what worries me most.

ETA: She doesn't eat out of a dish, but eats off her high chair tray, and drinks water. I apparently read too fast, sorry!

Um that would be a big fat NO to everything on your list! LO is 19 months now and seems fairly advanced in terms of language, normal on fine motor things. He had an explosion of skills at around 14-16 months. I wouldn't worry at all!

@MoonMoon: my LO didn't do any of those things! He's 14 months and seems fine now. He didn't start clapping until around 13 moths.

I have been worried about a lot of DD milestones, but she is just a late bloomer.

-eat out of a dish (instead of you handing them foods 1 by 1)- 13 months but only if that dish is attached otherwise it all goes on the floor, she mostly just eats off the table or highchair tray
-drink substantial amounts of water, from a sippy or regular cup- 9 months or so, for awhile she would mostly take sips and spit it back out for fun. 14 months she lost interest in her straw cups so I got differnt ones and now she drinks a ton
-clap-11.5 months, I worried so much about this, and almost didnt notice she was clapping when she finally started. But it wasnt constant she stopped and then started again around 13 months.
ETA Sometimes we have to watch how many peices of food we give her cause she is a stuffer, she stuffs it all in at once and then gags. But its not all the time.

I don't remember DD doing any of that at 10 months except for clapping.

Mine are almost 11 months and only do the last three things on your list (clapping, eating, drinking water from a straw cup.). I wouldn't stress it!

She clapped at 9.5 months. Drank from a straw cup till 12 months when we switched to a sippy. Cups and blocks were closer to 12 months. She has been eating off a plate since 10 months but still uses her hands. We haven't even tried a puzzle with her. Not sure if she has at school or not.

Oh and I second the straw cup over a sippy --- my husband taught him to use the straw in one sitting.

Not advanced puzzles, but he attempted to do those simple plastic shape puzzles that are blocks which inserts into a box. I don't think he figured it out completely by 10.5 months. I can't remember.

I remember he was eating out of his tray for the longest time because he went through a phase of serious food throwing and I was reluctant to get him dishes or he'll throw the whole thing on the floor. We didn't get dishes for him until closer to 1?

Definitely not a substantial amount. He suddenly started doing that out of the blue at 11-ish months when we got the right cup for him. (a straw cup). He won't even drink from a bottle afterwards.

I would say don't worry because your list is for older babies / young toddlers it seems!

My LO is 2 and can't do puzzles.....

I don't know about the stacking cups, blocks puzzles. LO is 13 months and just plays/throws his toys around. The only thing he was doing at 10 months in the list was clapping. I think he had just started the sippy cup but I was not consistent about using it. He still doesn't eat from dish, I just put food pieces on his tray or hand it over to him.

E was all about the eating and drinking (we started with a straw cup) from a really young age, but he didn't start stacking blocks/cups until closer to (or just after) a year. Maybe 13 months? And I think that was about when he started to clap on his own, too. Before that he would clap our hands together. Does your LO wave yet? Our pedi told us that she often sees LOs doing one of the other earlier, depending on which you model more (and I think he was about a year when he started to wave, too). He's 21.5 months now and sometimes do 2-3 piece puzzles, but mostly doesn't care about them (he's rather help me cook!)
