LO2 will be born when LO1 will be 2.5. I have a Carter's bag right now that I'm not a huge fan of so I'm looking to get something better and easier to organize.
I know the hive is great at this kind of thing so I'm turning to you. Recommend away. I'd like to keep in under $150.

I have a 2.5 year old and will have a newborn any day now...I just bought the Kipling Ravier backpack to use as a diaper bag and so far I really like how it test packs. I can use the side pockets for sippy/water bottles and I use a JuJuBe Be Quick pouch inside for diapers and wipes. There is a zippered back and that's where I stick my JL Childress changing pad. I keep snacks in another little pouch. FYI I'm a pretty light packer. I wanted to get a backpack this time around because I plan on baby wearing and my 2.5 year old is super active (and fast!) and I like having both arms free!

I don't have a 2nd child yet but think a backpack would be easiest. We have a regular sized backpack from LLBean that is great !

We have #3 on the way and are getting this backpack....because more kids means less hands to hold stuff!

I personally hate wearing a backpack and prefer a messenger style. I have a JJ Cole bag from target and love it! it is the perfect size...I can fit just enough but not so much that I over pack snd then can't find anything. I keep a plastic shoebox in the car with extra diapers and one extra pair of clothes per kid so I don't need as much in my bag. I am a reformed over packer

Definitely a backpack, you'll need your hands free with 2 kids. We have a Kanken backpack and I love the fact that my sons could probably reuse it for school later.

@ladybee: I currently use a messenger bag- non diaper, pretty small and light le sport sac- and it gets heavy on my shoulder. I'm thinking backpack when I have two. I also don't have a great back and have a low tolerance for carrying heavy bags for long periods of time.

I have a JuJuBe BFF and it's perfect size for me with two kids (they are 22 months apart). It can be worn backpack style or messenger. It's an awesome diaper bag!!

We use either a standard backpack or a Zip top tote from 31. Either way I tend to overpack. Just recently I have started to scale it back because I have to tote it everywhere.

I love my JJ Cole backpack. It's cute (even though it still definitely makes me look like a mom lol) but it's so easy to carry. It can be carried as a messenger if you want!

BUT, I totally see the use of one that can be worn as a back pack so this is what I want next time. Only a few are within your price range, but this is my dream one now!

Another vote for the Jujube BFF. I only have on LO right now, but I love the size of the bag. It fits under the stroller, it fits on the bar, it can be messenger style or backpack. I plan to keep using once we have a second LO too.
Oh, and if you have a buy buy baby near you, you can use a 20% coupon on it.

@Mrs. Lion: I'm already a super light/efficient packer. I was wondering how I will continue to do so with 2 LOs. I don't even have a diaper bag with #1. I just use the Skip Hop changing station. It has an extra set of clothes, 3 diapers plus wipes, nail clippers, tissues, etc. in it. It's still super compact and light. I love it. It won't be able to hold two sets of clothes though. But your idea of the a shoe box is brilliant! I think I will do this to keep it light. Clothes and extra diapers in box, and keep 2 diapers each in the changing pad. We'll see how it works! ha!

That's awesome I honestly used this same bag with just one kid and the only time it hasn't seemed like enough space for two is when I am doing a full day outing with both kids, because I have to carry bottles and formula too. I have a makeup bag in one of the pockets with bandaids and stuff for me, then I use one pocket for 2 diapers for each kid, one pocket for wipes and a wet bag for the cloth diapers, and one pocket for extra clothes (a set for each kid). Then the bottles stuff in between the pockets. I keep my wallet in one of the outside pockets and my phone and keys in the other. It is the perfect size. And I love that I can just swing it around a bit to get things out, where as with a backpack I feel like I would have to take it on and off a lot.

I got a Vera Bradley convertible baby bag, it's discontinued but I got it on ebay, some BBB stores still have them at deep discount. I liked it because it's BIG, I love VB quality and design, lots of pockets, easy to access due to shape being long and not deep, and it has the option to be a backpack and messenger style. OH and the interior is wipeable. I obviously haven't used it yet for two kiddos but so far it's been great.

Have you heard about http://www.fawndesign.com/shop/ backpack/messenger bag? I just ordered one. It's 129.95 plus shipping. It should be getting here later this week or next week. I've heard a lot of great things about it. and it doesn't look like a diaper bag. it doesn't come with a changing pad though.

No experience yet, but we registered for the JuJuBe BFF because my husband wants to be able to wear it as a backpack and I want to be able to wear it as a messenger bag. So it's the best of both worlds. Plus, it seems to have lots of easily accessible pockets to keep things organized.
