R just turned 12 months and loves water and outside. So we need to get a kiddie pool for the deck this summer. Any recommendations?

I got Chloe a splash pad last summer and it was the coolest thing ever!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: link?
@autumnlove: plastic or blow up? That is what I am wondering what is better.

@Smurfette: Plastic! We bought the smaller one and only used it a few times in the summer. It is full of balls right now!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: OMG, that looks so fun!! R would love it!

@Smurfette: the only downside is that you've got to keep your hose hooked up and running the entire time. My backyard isn't completely flat so water went everywhere!
And, you have to be vigilant about getting all the water out of the toys. Ours got moldy and I had to throw it away
Eta: here it is in action!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Our backyard is super slanted, so it doesn't sound like this would work then. Unless we use in the front yard.

@Smurfette: or on the deck?? Though it wouldn't be soft and padded..
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yeah I would think it would be too rough on the deck but I am not sure any are going to be super padded on the bottom.

@Smurfette: My nana used to put a thick blanket under our baby pools. She lived in the city and had a concrete backyard!
If it made any difference, I don't remember. I was little and didn't care either way!

bumping this as i had the same exact question! plastic versus blow up. our neighbors had a plastic one for their pup that we used for R last summer, but they ditched it. we had a ton of fun playing in the driveway, so i want to get another, but not sure which one! @Smurfette: did you get anything yet?

@birdofafeather: We haven't gotten one yet. DH wants to get a hard plastic one but I don't know.

We got DS this one last year and he loved it! As did my 3 year old nephew and 8 & 9 year old cousins.

@Smurfette: Sadie had a little inflatable one with a shade last summer, but now that she's much more mobile and very active (read: crazy), I don't think she'd enjoy much. It's too small. So, I'm getting a large inflatable one that she can walk/splash around in. I want her to have room for toys, balls, friends, etc. PLUS, I want to get in too. It's hot here.
My mom had this one in her backyard last summer for the grandkids, and it was the perfect size, so I think we're going to get it:

I was planning on getting C this one for his birthday for our deck... I like that it has an umbrella!

@photojane: Our lawn isn't level so I think we are going to have to put the pool on the deck so DH think an inflatable will pop and be too hard.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: oh my goodness that splash pad looks like so much fun! My C would just love it. Thanks for sharing the link and also the downsides -- I'm going to be considering this for his bday present!

@Smurfette: Oh okay. We used Sadie's small inflatable on our concrete porch last summer without any problems. But, I know Walmart sells those molded plastic pools every summer for like $15 or $20.
