I just bought the Kiss My Face active life and am not sold! Maybe I just need more time to adjust?

The lavender one is the best I have found. It needs to be re-applied however, ime.

I've heard the La Vanilla ones are supposed to be really great. I've always wanted to try them out.

I've heard good things about Primal Pit Paste: http://primalpitpaste.com/products.html
I haven't tried it yet, but I want to, because I haven't been thrilled with any of the ones I've tried so far - Kiss My Face, Tom's, etc.

I like this one...

In the citrus scent (which I think still smells floral!)
And I would say if you were to do any hard exercise you can expect to still sweat, but for a normal day you should be good!

Earth Science in Liken Plant is the best one I've found so far. Way better than Toms.

I feel like I should get commission because I always recommend LaVanila but it's the best!

I know this sounds gross but old spice has a deodorant without the aluminum anti-perspirant that doesn't smell too terrible.

I have heard good things about the Adidas one but also that it can be hard to find. I think, unfortunately, that there is also a shift in expectation that needs to happen when switching to a note natural deodorant. I didn't realize that and wasted a ton of money trying them before I realized that. I think it was Jessica Alba, the founder of Honest Co who said she still wears conventional deodorant on important days.

I have tried a ton of natural deodorants and the only one that has ever worked for me is sold on Etsy by Soapwalla. It sounds kinda sketchy to buy deodorant on etsy, but it is really good stuff. Try it!

@coacheswife123: why aluminum free? I didn't realize deodorant had aluminum in it?? Like the metal?
persimmon / 1168 posts
@locavore_mama: I think aluminum blocks sweat glands or something? I have read its linked to Alzheimers and no good for breast feeding
apricot / 461 posts
@LOCAVORE - it's crazy, but virtually all commercial deodorants have large amounts of aluminum. It goes straight into your skin and into your blood stream. I was pretty pissed off when I found this out a few years back - nobody talks about it!! It's linked to a lot of negative health effects. I am no expert but what I've read has been pretty overwhelmingly negative health wise.

I am a fairly heavy sweater and natural deodorants have done nothing for me - until this one! It's so weird but works amazingly well!

I made my own deo a few months ago using coconut oil, corn starch, baking soda and some essential oils and it is amazing! Goodbye stinkyness! I'm not *that* crunchy, but I am totally convinced by my natural deo.

@fussygal: I heard great things but I STANK. Like worse than if I wasn't wearing anything. I gave up on it. @JerricaBenton:

@Dagny: @magnolia: interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a male friendly one?
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@locavore_mama: toms has a male one but I don't know how effective it is !
Thanks for all the recs! On the stink front I really do think the kiss my face does a decent job - but I think it's making me itchy and my underarms look red but I can't decide if this is a sensitive skin issue or chafing ?
pomegranate / 3872 posts
@coacheswife123: some natural deodorants (especially men's for some reason) contain silver which some people are extremely sensitive to. It causes red flaky, itchy skin so that might be bothering you. I got my husband one by herban cowboy and he couldn't use it because of the silver sensitivity.

I do okay with the natural, coconut oil based ones, but it's important to keep in mind that they are just deodorants, NOT antiperspirants. Because I live in a hot humid climate, I can do the natural stuff most of the year, but not during the summer.

@coacheswife123: I have used Arm and Hammer for a few years now and have no complaints: http://www.armandhammer.com/personal-care/antiperspirants-deodorants/landing.aspx

@lamariniere: I've been interested in doing that too! I use Toms but I'm not crazy about the propylene glycol in it. Do you have a good recipe?
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@birdofafeather: yep me too. I'm back to dove. =/
@coacheswife123: yes, my husband and I have the same issue as well.

Following! I use to use one from Body Shop but they discontinued it so I'm looking for a new one!

ok i'm a nerd and have been doing research! I didn't realize your body kind of detoxes when you switch to a natural deodorant. I'm wondering if that is what is going on with me now? The itching has subsided and I haven't applied it since this morning.
did any of yall detox when you switched? I think I'm going to use it for a week before I make the call that it doesn't work for me.

I love the Lavanila - I think mine is vanilla lavender. It's not perfect, but it's very good. I do keep a stick of dove for days I know are going to be super hot or stressful. I think my body is getting used to Lavanila though.

I'm currently using Certain Dri to try to get my excessive sweating under control. (I've had this for as long as I can remember) Always sweating under my arms. Anyway, I just googled it after seeing this thread, and that particular deodorant is one of the highest in aluminum concentration.
Does anyone here know of any natural ways to actually stop excessive sweating? I don't see how I can do so, without the use of aluminum, which ultimately blocks the sweat glands. It's embarrassing and humiliating and just plain gross! I'd switch to a natural one, but I doubt they would work for me.

Ok y'all forgive me. Trying to decide if I should keep this up a few more days. This is my 2nd full day. I don't have any odor and I'm not a big sweater. The only problmw is my underarms are red and itchy. No bumps. It's the worst right when I apply and then goes away. Part of me thinks it is chafing because once it "dries" my underarms feel kind of sticky ? Should I give it a few days to see if it improves ? There is no silver in the ingredient list !
I want it to go away because I think I could totally get by with this brand if my 'pits stop burnin!
